The reason behind them being immobile will cause players to actively hunt them down, rather than AI hunting players, so being similar to a Easter egg hunt, this could also involve bounty hunter missions for kills on varying tiers - providing gear as rewards.
The varying tiers don't have to be purely be in how much DPS or tankiness each egg has, they could be suited to classes (basically certain classes will be able to kill them easier).
So a Seer 'Egg' will be lower vis and a high powered short range weapon. A SD/sniper 'Egg' will have an upgraded version of the kasper SSS and high regen, so a fast class is required to chase them down in order to DPS, or a sniper to range them. A gunner egg , only be vulnerable to mining damage, etc...
Unsure if the whole immobile spawning AI will be practical, but it's an idea nonetheless.
A nice idea, but unfortunately too late to implement.
