Suns.
They do too much damage. Please lower the damage.
There is no non-damaging suns like there were in C1. Please add them back in.
The Red giants in dgs are right in the middle of everything. Please move them away from the center of the gal. Edit: Most giant suns also revolve WAY too fast. They look dumb when they spin around completely in 10 seconds.
Thanks.

Re: Suns.
GOOD LUCK!
The only way suns will be nurfed is after Jeff has either sold SS or is looking up at a ME, and someone sane takes over control of the game.

Re: Suns.
No, he's just an idiot like that.
Suns are doing more damage now, but the admins can't figure out WHY. So they stew and do nothing.

Just checked this out, they do indeed do insane damage. It can't be a universal thing though, check out the star in deep space.
I suspect something to do with object oriented programming. It's fun to find ways to screw it up. If you have new instance of a class you can get it to modify the original class if you do it wrong. (the error could be anywhere, hand me the source code )

Re: Suns.
Oh, Just found an old post! It actually has jeff commenting.Quote: We used to have the Standard Yellow Stars™ which did no damage. Since Jeff seems to like the O-B-A-F-G-K-M star classification system, I would suggest Classes G, K, and M be non damaging. Then maybe lower damage from A class by 15% or so. JeffL wrote: Making the different types of sun do different amounts of damage sounds like a good idea. From viewtopic.php?f=107&t=48597 Also, the sun in deep space is fine because its in a special galaxy. Its the randomly generated suns that are a problem.

Re: Suns.
The real problem here is the whole idea that we're too stupid to fly around a star!
And some MORON adds in speed bumps so simulate our flying around solar objects ... If were flying around them, the stars, how the hell are they causing any damage?
Loose the damage and the speed bumps! They're both stupid ideas that just detract from the game.

Re: Suns.
So you propose that we fly THROUGH the stars? Thats even less realistic than what it is now.

Re: Suns.
putting suns below the Z axis of normal ships would sort out the main problem with colision code as well since ai wont be constantly changing what axis they are on

I'd like to be able to hide on stars and planets again. However, my "Huh?" still stands.

You were never "ON" the stars or planets, but rather in front of them, from your perspective, and any other space game would simply have allowed warring ships to move into position and blow your arse out of existence.

Bone, shouldn't you still be licking your wounds from the spanking AEM gave you?
People just ignore everything you say now anyway.

It was random on whether or not the weapon hit the object or you first, but you could still attack people if you were on top of them. Still can with warps. Makes the Fly inbuilts a pain in the ass.Visorak wrote: Bone, shouldn't you still be licking your wounds from the spanking AEM gave you?
Oh? This I've got to see, er, link plz? Was gone for some time...

You were never "ON" the stars or planets, but rather in front of them, from your perspective, and any other space game would simply have allowed warring ships to move into position and blow your arse out of existence. The trouble with your complaint, Bonecrusher, is that star sonata has always been like this. To change it would to be to make the game a different game. And everyone knows that games hardly ever line up exactly with reality. There are reasonable breaks from that reality, to make the game more fun for the majority. Do you understand? The majority of people enjoy the game in its current form. If it were changed, the majority wouldn't like it as much. It's better for the majority to leave it as the tried and true (if not exactly realistic) method. Is that okay?
