Post Possible fix for insanely low FPS.
I love Star Sonata 2 and would love it a lot more if I didn't have to play at 10 FPS...I know its not my comp because its able to run other 3D games just fine on on low settings.

Just throwing that out there.

Try throwing your computer build out there.

you can always try the beta (test) client viewtopic.php?f=116&t=50767

A lot of performance tweaks are currently being tested in that client.

Would it be funny if I suggested a 2D version of the client

the actual rendering while being a key element, is not the cause of the lags for most people experiencing said lag XD.

Rendering even on the worse computer i could find, still only limited the fps to 20. The logic code (stuff pretty much unrelated to the graphics), is what cause the currently existing lags (that is, on the current beta client since the clipping and stuff are now working as expected).

Also, if you REALLY want to run it on a computer with a ten year old graphics card(I do), you can go under settings and turn off the filtering. I have no idea if it affects the frame rate, but if things dissappear when you press the W key, look into it. (The reason I use the older computer is that the other one has a shit monitor, meaning it has a widescreen aspect ratio and autoadjusts to the edges... . Also, C2 updates fragment your harddrive to no end. The updater/whatever had the most fragment of any file on my computer: 1,476 that's rellevant because it's why you would use an older computer (better defrag for sure...))

the updater having 1400 fragments ? the updater doesnt change himself unless needed (and thats not very often that i patch the patcher), which file exactly was fragmented (as in exact filename). would be helpfull to know.

It might be starsonata2_installer but that doesn't seam right. I'll see if it comes up again, but, yeah, running the thing 5 times for only 2 updates might not be a good idea, if only for time saving reasons.

All I know is that it was under application data, something in the "system url"(probably a better name) tipped me off that it was a SS file and was related to updates.

there is only temporary files creation when something is actually being patched, and even then, they are clustered in a way that should minimize if not avoid completly fragmentation.

The reason it run 3 times (not 5 but 3 if there is nothing to patch), is for time saving purpose. The first time is a quick check on the patchbot version itself. second time is a quick check on the ss exe, and finally the third time is the check for every other files.

Oh no. I meant I personally closed the thing before it was done. Was wondering what those stages were for, though.
