A while back, I played this game where you start out as a single module in 2d space(very simple graphics, think pre-ss1). Then you flew around blowing up other ships by shooting off pieces of them until you could hit their core. Once the core died, you could take the remaining thrusters, girders, and weapons, and attach them to your ship to make it stronger. You started out fighting green enemies, and then worked your way up through different colors, finally to white enemies and then to rainbow flashing enemies.

Does anyone know of the name of this game? I've been searching for it for ages.

This game is awesome

To the point I became weaponless >.<

Strategy: Stay small and grab weapon upgrades when you can. When the big rainbow guys spawn, let them kill each other and then grab an uber weapon. Then snipe everything.

I can't seem to make any strategy work that involves big tanky ships. Anyone have more success with that?

If you're going for Big Ships:

From what I came across from other people, the idea is to make your ship look like an old wooden Man-of-war, like Nelson's HMS Victory.

In other words.

1. Collect parts as if you were a mobile junkyard.
2. Establish a central core running from the front to the back, hopefully encasing the Pod.
3. Put Engines on the Port and Starboard sides of the Core.
4. Make a second layer, and make it look like a porcupine.

Then orbit your enemies while pounding them into dust.

Note: The big ship designs often make use of a large scoop to collect material for later use to skip picking them up.

Really? I felt the controls were sluggish and the gameplay was "eh" at best, nice concept if expanded on though.
