Post your opinions about the future of mankind please, perhaps a time line you belive is plausible and possible?
I mean, when do you think that the gas and oil resources will end, what would that cause. Or maybe the thing beteween USA and Pakistan.. your call on how you think world history would develop.
Ideas: when would private corporations be interested in extra terestrial resources, what would be some possible conflicts in the near future, is there a possibility of rejuvenation being made public to anyone...

I wonder what some think of the future.

Once the Singularity happens and computers become more intelligent than humans, around 2050 or so, it is impossible to know what will happen afterwards, as technology will be in a positive feedback cycle that will increase intelligence by humans and machine exponentially. Due to the positive feedback cycle, human minds right now are not intelligent enough to describe what will happen after the Singularity. For example, it's like trying to predict what Deep Blue, the chess super computer, will make for his next move. In order to predict what will happen, we must think on Deep Blue's level.

for the next 10-20 years, nations will continue to wage wars and oppress their people

once the singularity happens (which could be as little as 10 years, considering new graphene based and quantum based computing) one entity will rise to dominance over all others, whether that entity is a human who has used powerful computers to "outthink" everyone else and advance their own technology to godlike levels

from there, those advancements will slowly trickle down until they reach someone who will abuse them for their own gain, making the wars of the 20th century seem almost trivial in comparison

and the only way to fight back is to understand that technology, to know how to defeat it.

the singularity will make intelligence the most valuable trait anyone can have, because "not having it" will be the biggest threat to a person's long term survival.

their inability to predict what will happen, because of their own ignorance, will be their downfall.

after the singularity, expect "star trek" in a "nazi-aftermath" where the only people alive, are the people the leader has allowed to live

if the bad guys DONT win, and democratic societies survive, expect to see people like coper, norrath, HAL, griffin, and other people who are good at understanding the effects of new technologies, replacing the old guard, because the most powerful political tool after the singularity will be the ability to predict outcomes in times of extreme uncertainty.

I don't see how you guys are getting figures of 10-50 years. I didn't realise scientists could pull mind-blowing magical-does-everything-you-can-imagine-and-more inventions out of their ass. But then again I use to think unicorns didn't exist. And now we've even got Blu Ray players for under a $100!
