Lasik & PRK
Hello,
Have anyone had Lasik or PRK surgery? Ever since SS made me a blind bat(kidding) i've wanted to correct my eye sight, and i'm finally getting a PRK surgery on february 17th. I have -1 myopia in both eyes and -0.25 agtimatism on both eyes and i am already tired of not being able to see clearly, so I am very excited and can't wait for it. If anyone have or known someone that had eye correction, would you want to share your experience! thanks

Re: Lasik & PRK
What's the debate?
IMO is just can you afford it cause the risk is less than .1% of side effects if you find current data. So low they usually LASIK both eyes at once (they used to do 1 at a time but now has proven statistically pointless to preventative measure).
Idk prk tbh what's that, Cba to google atm.
LASIK tho people don't even take time off work to do that now. You'll get immediate results same day. Just need drugs to wear off and that's not really that much either.

Re: Lasik & PRK
I was recently at an ophthalmologist's office and I noticed that all the attendings and residents had glasses. I asked one of the residents about it and he told me that most docs in the field that he knows do not get it done because its not always perfect.
It definitely can be the most amazing thing ever, but there can also be some concerns with halos or dry eye afterwards. most get better with time, but some dont.
Make sure you get a good consultation with the ophtho who is going to be doing it. What matters is how long he/she has been doing the proceedure and how many they have done in that time. You don't want the new kid on the block. Everyone's gotta learn, and believe me I feel strongly about giving students a chance, but these are your eyes, you only get 2, and they are fragile.

Re: Lasik & PRK
Cool story: they used to like 10 years ago calibrate laser strength on grapefruit. I was there with a tech and he and the optho guy after work and for fun of it they cranked it up to full and exploded about 20 grapefruit!
Sadly I don't think they make them have that capability anymore. Weak lasers etc....
Btw erman your friends r crazay.
For sure tho have it done by someone good. Never let a resident do shit on you! Lol

Re: Lasik & PRK
I personally won't be doing this until I'm sure my prescription is stable. Been holding steady for a few years but I'm still waiting.

Also, concerning this: erman wrote: It definitely can be the most amazing thing ever, but there can also be some concerns with halos or dry eye afterwards. most get better with time, but some dont. My girlfriend go LASIK a few months ago and she has pretty bad problems with glare now. It sometimes makes it difficult for her to drive, especially at night. I fear for her as a result of this surgery. =/ As ERMAN has suggested, make sure you get a good consultation.

Re: Lasik & PRK
My brother has the LASIK Surgery,, as he told me..
After few days of the surgery his vision wasn't that perfect, but then it got very good by the time.... But, my brother's job consists him sitting on a computer for long periods of time, so after about a year of the surgery he had to wear glasses again.

-ERMAN Yes. I'm having it done at Grand Central in NYC. Dr. Stetson have done over 30k eye surgery and worked for the U.S Air Force so i am certain he knows what he is doing by now. I am very excited to have it done since it's so uncomfortable to not be able to see clear. I know about the halos and the ghosting vision one can get at night if the operation isn't 100% successful, but i'm just going to be positive and go for a 20/10 vision
