Re: rumble spawn
I still think instancing is the way to go, at least to a limited extent. Forgive me if that's already in since I haven't visited the Rumbles for a few months.

Re: rumble spawn
I thought instancing over and found 1 problem with it; /squadcreate. Do that and you create a new squad, and thus, a new fully spawned instance. Now getting 10 levels of piloting takes 2 minutes which, while convenient, is way too short.
I would like Copper spawns personally. Once every 5 minutes the spawners drop enough AI to fill the galaxies capacity(which for the Rumble galaxies is 20-25 depending upon which you are in).
That way P6-12 in Rumble takes 30 minutes of solid camping(not 35 since the first spawn is already there upon entry, so you only wait 6 spawns to kill 7). P13-16 in Rumble 2 would take 15 minutes of solid camping. P17-19 in Rumble 3 takes 10 minutes of solid camping. RM would take the same amount of time, but would allow for people to not have to camp the AI 1 by 1 for 20 minutes after the person before then finishes as they would just have to wait for the next spawn to hit.

Re: rumble spawn
Camping doesn't add real difficulty. Nor does it make the game more challenging in any way. At least with the /squadcreate feature new players would always have to kill a full rumble spawn each time. Are we really concerned about forcing endgame players to camp things for their alts?
For a genuinely new player killing the rumbles is usually quite tough.

For a genuinely new player killing the rumbles is usually quite tough. The faster something is done the more it takes away from the final pay off. It's why instant gratification does not work, without invested time people do not value what they achieve because it feels as if it was too simple and therefore must not be that important. When I got P12 on my main was I stoked about it for like a week, it took two hours and was boring as hell, but that was not the point. The point was I had worked for and earned it by sitting there and having the patience to do what needed to be done. This is because people equate time with value, the more time you spend on something the less likely you are to let it go. That's why new players quit all the time yet those of us that have been here a while feels tied to the game, we invested time into it giving it value.
Guess what happened when I got P20? Goldstar was there on his DM(Drone Master, not Engineer ya bums...) and I mentioned in team chat that I needed P20. He told me he was there, so I went and got the commods from him and was out in less than a minute and was in a Pax Astronomica by the end of the week. Problem was I sincerely could not give a shit less about what I had achieved, because there was no time investment to inject value into the experience.
In the end you need time invested, but not so much that it is painfully boring for the individuals involved. So the best way to find a happy medium is to use frequent large spawns to lower the time taken from 2 hours down to 30 minutes.

Re: rumble spawn
With the increased SP cost for SS2 it wont be very common to get two or more levels in piloting at the same time. You will most likely go to Rumble to get just one piloting level, then you need to head out to level more.
No chance at all of anyone doing P6-12 at the same time.
Making them instanced would be a good idea though.

Making them instanced would be a good idea though. With the prophesied influx of player with SS2(not likely judging by the beta) there will be immense demand for things and even if they are 1 level at a time they will be swamped.

Why do you always have to be so negative??

Re: rumble spawn
In what way am I being negative? Common sense dictates that with a lot more new players the demand in Rumble is greater, so much so that you could end up with constant lines to get just 1 level of piloting. Which should not be the case at any point.
Are you arguing that more players means less demand so the Rumble galaxies aren't swamped with players?

Which is exactly why I said that instancing them would be a good idea...

Sorry about that.Same, the first paragraph led me in the wrong direction. But ok, if Voom approves instancing then let's do it, end of story.

Re: rumble spawn
Rumble already has instancing in C2, its on both the test or beta servers if you want to check it out. (Still need to tweak it a bit but they are functional)
