It's just broken. It's not 2k damage per second for 20 seconds, but the damage the parasite does is affected by the user's class skills and augmenters.

Re: Hot Glue Gun i do anywhere from 50 to 1500 damage with the hot glue sprayer. It's dependent not only on class skills but heavily on resists as well. and fire extinguishers do indeed cut the parasite by a tonne.
