Post "Docking denied. Too far away"? - Desync topic
Explain it to me please, because i already thought there was an "too far away" error message that said: "Cannot dock. Not in range".

Well, this screenshot should explain what I'm feeling:

i was getting this shit today on a ship with low docking speed so i thought it was just me. relogging sorted it out, but then it started again soon after.

What topbuzz said. However my docking speed is like 200 in that travelDS, so that shouldnt be the problem.

i saw it was a sync issue cos even tho i was on the base i saw some trade slaves docking at an invisible base roughly 1 inch behind my base. when i relogged the TS was docking as normal.

It is from desyncing, however, it appears the longer you stay logged on the worse it gets.

I have also experienced this. While relogging does appear to temporarily address the issue, it can reoccur within 10 minutes; and often does.

I also noticed that when this occurs weapons/transference firing graphics will occur about 50-100 units away from the base (usually south-east).

Likewise tradeslaves are docking at said base at the same south-eastern location and appearing their when they undock.

Docking at 'that' location also does not appear to be possible.

Update: This is now occurring less than every 5 minutes. The game is becoming unplayable as far as managing a colony.

Possibly related, it feels like the server is more sluggish than usual. I can definitely see a difference in my RoF on my SHM, unsmooth and about half the shots, etc.

Also might explain why our AP'ing is a little more problematic than usual?

This never used to be an issue but now occurs as a result of the 'exploit' fix whereby you could dock at a base from any position in a galaxy (If the client said you were over the base). This means people with a lot of latency (Like me with ~250+) have issues docking at speedy bases....also, going through the moving wormholes in Micron -_-. Only counter to this is to simply re-log and dock quickly >.>

Edit: Also, the shittyness of the server as of late of courses exacerbates this issue

That may very well be the case, however my average pingrate to the server is 45-60 and I'm having this issue occur less than every 5 minutes.

Welcome to UDP + put a section of code that checks every 10mins on accurate positions/values please!

Also tractoring the moon normally resolves the problem.

I've found that sometimes I get the desync docking problem while cloaked, but if I turn off the cloak the problem goes away.
