Re: Changes to Cloaks/visibility
Okay so ive been playing on a seer, its end game and its extremely low vis, like insanely low vis. However all the SDs that use an athen+ can see me, broken much? yes ofc it is thats why it was a rhetorical question.
Seers damage can easily be nullified from an MD, and with a PPF your range is generally horrendous. I think admins dont rly understand just how well i guess crap the seer class is once it gets spotted, sure u can warp away, sure u can grem the SD or w/e see's you. Ultimately though any SD that classes themselves as a pvper has a parasitic flare gun, one shot of that and warping wont get you away, and by shit you aint going to out run any SD you aint even gunna outrun a MF.
What the fuck damage am i meant to do when flaared with my anterolactoral thoracotomy laser when i lose almost all of my dps when visible and when my class is not meant to be seen? there goes ~250% of my dmg lost due to not critting alone, add onto that the not being behind the enemy. Seer is a shit enough class as it is and one i wouldnt suggest anyone makes as a main character realistically. If you fuck up stealth (not that it isnt already) you fuck up the class entirely. At least every other class in game does their best dps when in high vis setups.....
And no i will not put a cap aug on my ship because ever since the rebalance seer has needed dps mods from all 4 augs to be useable so dont even think about giving that bullshit excuse.

Re: Changes to Cloaks/visibility
On seers needing all 4 augs for damage.
with 4 augs that increase crit hit/dmg whilst still allowing insanely low vis and decent shields, the rough damage a seer can get is 60-80k on 0 surgical resists, in panther tweak, with a panther fang (and crit hit).
Consider how often panther tweak occurs, the fact that most ships have good surg resists and then add the chance that you wont strike from behind and then the chance you wont crit, in which case your damage has gone to shit.
Stealth is really all seer has atm, and that stealth is paper thin as it is... any nerf to cloaks would destroy it.

Perhaps an alternative implementation would be to cap the ship speed while the cloak is enabled, rather than simply disabling or limiting the effectiveness of the cloak once you exceed the speed limit.... Both of these ideas will further limit the ability to DG as Seer. This would be fine if as most Seers do you only do MF Reaver DGs. Try doing MF Pick DGs and you will understand why I do say so; this is not limited only to these AIs.

Re: Changes to Cloaks/visibility
If radars are made stronger then people, non-seer/sniper can be seen easier, correct?
Ok, so
If stealth augs were beefed, seers and snipers would get that multiplied by their skills and be even stealthier
And those people that are stealthy with just cloaks (no stealth augs), will be seen easy now because of stronger radars

Re: Changes to Cloaks/visibility
After testing the vis system with Pip and Jeff i am totally satisfied with the way the current Jujuso'rka and vis system works. i would have to say very well done. i even find it relatively safe to fly through high vis gals.

Re: Changes to Cloaks/visibility
Low tech cloaks might be a bit OP, but at higher techs it seems to work rather well.
And i could see you from 100 distance with a passive radar, noobaco...

Re: Changes to Cloaks/visibility
I was only using a t10 cloak, no vis aug on that test, and sniper's had a hard time seeing me.
I still think the simplest and easy solution would be to up the vis for all non Seer/Snipers.
To me its just logical to tweak with a single variable than to tweak with 2, radar and cloaks...

Re: Changes to Cloaks/visibility
2 options nerf cloaks, beef stealth augs or beef radars and beef stealth augs
both ways will leave those without stealth augs, very unstealthy
