Question - Client 2 - Localization
Hey guys,
Would it be helpful for you guys for us to support localization of the game? At first this would be just the client side stuff, and eventually it would be mission/item text etc.
Would you guys be willing to help translate into the other languages?
If you know another language and would volunteer time, tell me your language in this thread. Otherwise, just answer the poll question.
Thanks, pip
PS. If English is your native language, please don't answer No just to piss other people off.

Re: Question - Client 2 - Localization
if many languages are used, and we still all chare the same chats, then you can count on everyone getting super pissed at anyone not using english. Trade chat would be useless to most people not using english. The reality of the situation is that dumb americans don't know many languages like other people know english and their native language.
Alternatively, if you split chats that would make sub groups of the community and I think our community is small enough as it is.
I get it that you guys are trying to make this game, that was once a project into a corporation with some muscle, but messing with language stuff will only separate the community in my eyes and we arent big enough for that at this time.

-ERMAN I was not talking about chats, chats would remain english only... Its the game that would be translated so people who know enough english to chat (or don't want to chat) still don't have to read it all day to play. Also, the small community thing is going to be a thing of the past at the rate we're growing now.

I don't have opinion about localisation if it is needed or not, but I am more than happy to help in translation. So if you so decide i volunteer for Finnish translation.

Re: Question - Client 2 - Localization
Could we have proper English as a localisation option? I know that a lot of Brits get irritated with American English. I would be willing to check grammar and switch American spellings to English (UK) spelling.

I am one of those stupid Americans you all have complained about(though I wish I wasn't but I suck at learning langueges). That bit being said I think that this would be a great idea and I wish I would actualy be able to help out if you decided to do it.

Re: Question - Client 2 - Localization
localisation would open this game up to a broader market, that is a good thing. younger players, those in the localised countries, that do not know english could also play, that's a pretty big market.
i could probably help out translating into Dutch, but i don't know any coding or anything like that, if that'd be necessary.

Re: Question - Client 2 - Localization
I'd be happy to do the german translation, but I'm not sure if it is such a good idea to include multiple languages in a game, that's mainly english. If every item in the game has a different name in each language, trade might be pretty chaotic..

Re: Question - Client 2 - Localization
Frankly, if this pulls dev and admin time away from everything else that needs to be done, then _hell_ _no_ is my vote. There's _way_ to much stuff that's supposed to happen that hasn't yet, for yet another thing to be added to everyone's plate.
If, and only if, no dev/admin time would get used to do this, then I'd be in favor of it.

I can do Norwegian if you wish Would be fun to have language packs you could install. And Jester_Motley I doubt this will take much attention away from other stuff, I mean, the volounteers in here will do the work

Abdum The Great wrote: i cannot imagine ss in Russian language. It's better to stay all in English Then leave it in English. Like I said in my post, don't be an ass about it. If people want to play in other languages, let them, as long as the chats/forums stay english.
