Bump mapping is a way to apply textures. Gimp bumpmapping has nothing to do with the real thing. It's just an overlay feature. Now go away.

About the new client though, what is gonna be the 3D driver? OpenGL or something... hope it's not *shivers* DirectX.

And are you coding up the GUI with XML or it's just gonna be hardcoded?

Its being made using the Irrlicht engine, so not DirectX. (and I'm pretty sure I saw something about OpenGL on its website when I looked a while back)

You can tell Irrlicht to render using either OpenGL or DirectX when it's running on Windows.

Now then, a big question. How will this run on Vista Service Pack 1 with it's DirectX 10(or 10.1) compared to DirectX 9.0c or whatever this Irrlicht engine is running (too tired to do some research here). Hopefully my rig'll be able to run this at it's full glory, although i'd be more surprised if it doesn't.

well. seeing microsoft tendency to not respect anything, it might have some bug on directx 10 lol, but im pretty sure it would run without much problem. If not, just run it in opengl lol.
