Will it be optional?

I like Star Sonata because it reminds me of a game I used to play that didn't have 3D graphics. I also like Star Sonata because it can run on my crappy computer that's slowly dying... I just bought a membership too, and it would suck if I suddenly wasn't able to play any more because of the 3D graphics.

Its still 2D gameplay just the ships will look less rubbishy and it just adds a few polygons to the screen so not like gameplay will be any worse.

jeffy just one little thing, i'd suggest that the green of the DF is changed to dark glowy blue as well as the rest of the ship, while the cargo pods be a shiny black colour.

The new client will not be optional, but we are aiming at very low system specs similar to the current specs. We will add lots of graphical niceties like dynamic lighting, bump mapping, environment mapping, etc, but all those features will be optional and the new client should run on 4 or 5 year old laptops just like the current client.

For me, it should run better.

Aslong as it doesnt use OpenGL higher then version 2.0.

Cause all the 3D games i play that are Networked run smoothly compared to SS... :mrgreen:
