Test server: New client required
We have made a number of changes to the server/client messages, and this code is now running on the test server. The old client will not work with the new server code, so attempting to connect to the test server with the old client will probably cause the client to crash. A new test client will be made available soon, along with details on how to use it.
-- Edit --
The test client is now available here: http://www.starsonata.com/StarSonata_TestClient.exe

What's "soon"? What changes will be made? What has to be tested?

Sounds cool. Could we get a general idea of what has been updated once the client can be uploaded?

Most of the new client changes will have to do with maintaining compatibility with the server for communications, but there are also some new features.
For the starmap, base tabs surrounding the galaxy will be additionally color coded for team and personal bases. There have also been some changes to the autopilot, changes to the level title system, and a few more things.
There will also be some new command line abilities including:
/war (declare war)
/endwar (undeclare war)
/wars (list your (team's) active wars)
/lockout (list your galaxy lockouts for new dungeon system)
The last command won't actually do anything until we have a new universe, since none of the bosses in this universe have a lockout timer.
We should have a full list of patch notes coming Soonâ„¢.

If SS is ever going to be advertised on TV, it's going to be like "StarSonata - New Patch is comming soonâ„¢"

Just as an additional note on the client update, we were talking about some things in Dev chat and galaxies with asteroid belts lagging horribly came up... Anyways as it turns out we found a potential cause of the problem, so hopefully with the new client FPS will suffer less in galaxies with a lot of objects.

We've tested it and found great FPS improvements. For example, Blue Outpost went from 3 fps to 20 on HAL's computer, and galaxies with asteroid belts now run much smoother (especially away from the belts). Sol will also probably be much improved.

Sounds very good.
Are you using an integrated card, HAL? Because with an integrated Intel graphics card I was getting around 3-5 FPS in Blue Outpost.
