Re: Extraction rates are messed up
I know you're trying to help but I don't understand what the length of the uni has to do with it. Not only that, but we're only just reaching the 3-month mark, which I wouldn't call long at all.

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
Now this is happening to my forge as well. I can clearly watch rations ticking up at over 1k per minute, but if I leave the gal for 5 minutes the base starves.

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
Whats the status of this?
Are you guys actually convinced this is happening?
And if so, whats the progress on identifying the cause and coming to a solution?

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
Just to update, the metal planet I have mentioned is still operating at under 50%. I've kept tabs on it since I made the post in the first place and its average rate of extraction, per base and for the entire planet, is still:
1. 50% lower than it was for the first half of this uni. 2. 50% lower than it should be based on the extraction equations that I spent last uni confirming.
Still waiting for a dev to step up and check out my situation.

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
I can attest to this. I set-up around 40~ bases in the beginning of the uni. They where geared, given the space they needed, given limits on all colo commods and then supplied. I proceeded to go hardcore afk from the game only checking in ever few weeks, the bases where just fine.
Apparently a few weeks ago pretty much all of my bases, minus the hydro defenders, went down. I have not followed up on testing or resetting up because I frankly cannot find the drive this uni but when next uni rolls around and I do colos for real I would rather not have to deal with this.

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
Assuming enkelin still has bases going.
Does the extraction rate go down while you are inside the galaxy? Or only when you leave. Also, if it is only when you leave, is there like a time period in which you can return and it's still at full speed?
Other than being sleepy issues, I'm really not sure. Jey says it isn't that because we'd be noticing other problems if it was. >.<'

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
Thanks for the follow-up, Blue Dwarf. I have tested the metals income both with a dedicated character parked in one of the bases, and with no specific effort to keep the galaxy occupied. My results are as follows:
Day 1: 22.8 metals per minute per extractor Day 2 (parked in base): 32.5 metals per minute per extractor
Both of these were measured over the period of at least 6 hours. Don't forget that the amount I should be getting (both theoretically and empirically) is 53.2 metals per minute per extractor. In other words, it seems quite possible that this issue is wrapped up in the rations problem, but that can't account for everything.
Once again, this is planet Scorpia in galaxy Chesterton. I would be interested to hear what the XML has to say about it.

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
If you don't mind my posting, some extracts of your planet XML; Code: .... <NATURALRESOURCE> <RUINSRESOURCE>0</RUINSRESOURCE> <XTRACTIONFACTOR>1.0</XTRACTIONFACTOR> <ITEM>Metals</ITEM> <EFFECTIVETYPE>1</EFFECTIVETYPE> <SIGNATURE>0.0</SIGNATURE> <ABUNDANCE>106</ABUNDANCE> </NATURALRESOURCE> .... <PROJECTLIST> <PROJECT>Deep Core Mining</PROJECT> </PROJECTLIST> .... As you can see, you have 106 extractor slots, and Deep Core Mining, which makes 111 I believe. An extraction factor of 1, so normal extract rate, nothing is out of the ordinary here. As for extractors, they each have different powers, normal and advanced at 1, kikale at 2, and the rest of the metal ones are in between the two, but that doesn't explain such a low extraction rate. Further more, from a table I was supplied with on ExE bonus: EE level: 28 Extraction Bonus: 556.56 Example Std Extract per hour: 2,363.62 As I said last night, Jey doesn't think it's sleepy, but he's also currently swamped with fixing d3d issues. >.<' Not really sure what to tell you

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
you have just provided the first real info on extraction rate in the 3 years I have been playing, thank you. would be nice to be able to scan this extraction factor that is randomised across planets. Thank you for the info on metal extractor powers I had always assumed undead and kikale was same as normal and adv, just gave you an extra slot...

Re: Extraction rates are messed up
Thank you for looking into the matter. Could you please explain what "extraction bonus" means?
With this new information about exotic extractors, all I can say is that my metals intake is actually even lower than my initial findings state since I had assumed a power of 1 for all four kinds. I have adjusted my table of values, still assuming a power of 1 for undead metal miners (for lack of information), and here are the results:
Extraction rate / sample extraction rate when constantly attended: 72% Extraction rate / sample extraction rate when sporadically attended: 31-57%
I think it's clear that there is some pretty serious bug hiding here. You seem to be agreeing with me in your post, but I can't quite tell. Please let me know what other information I can provide for you to help track this down. I do believe that this is a more widespread issue that has simply gone unnoticed by those who don't keep as close an eye on their resources as I do.

I really have no idea what else to tell you, I'm not a programmer or anything close to one, so I can't really look into it much. I also got your base XML, but that was less helpful than I thought it would be. Just gotter leave it for a programmer to take a look at and debug if they can. >.<
