Back in this old game I used to play you would pay a massive amount of credits to change things like hair color, weapon color, armor color, etc. they had a base you could go into that brought up a tab UI that allowed you to tab different layers of your armor, hair color, weapon color, etc and pay (to us what would seem to be 30b) for each time you decide to use this UI.

I suggest a base in sol that players can dock at with the ship in mind, and pay a fee to enter this user interface tab that brings up a rotating 360 degree view of your ship with 3 main layers of reference to choose from to add color too. Or maybe stock textures that you could tab through and pick which hue of color you want through a horizontal scroll bar.

I know Jeff, you wanted to save this for more of a "space points" kind of thing, but alomost no one even knows what space points are or how to get them. I think making template ship skins and allowing players to choose custom colors for their desired ship would be one of very many cool credit sink ideas.

Althougth I do like many of the suggestions on this thread. Some people had some very awesome ideas, and others not so much xD

I love the idea of purchasing bar and imp skills higher than level 10 for ridiculous amounts of credits

Here's my suggestions:

  • Team bonuses / Universe. Teams can build projects @ their HQ (or main proddy base to be installed in the HQ) which give a selection of bonuses for the duration of the universe only. These bonuses would effect every member of the team, and obviously you'd build them prior to a uni restart, and equip them as soon as your main HQ was laid. Examples:
  • Spend 1500 bil: +5% drop chance for an entire universe
  • 250 bil: +3% damage for each team member
  • 750 bil: +5% suit on every colony with a teamed base

  • Server wide bonuses: a team can sacrifice to Adum, and give the entire server a small bonus e.g. spend 10 bil, give the entire server a +10% XP boost for an hour, or spend 25 bil and get a server wide +5% drop rate for an hour -- perfect for those Olympus runs). The best bit? A server wide announcement in colour stating how your amazing team was helping everyone out.
    e.g.
    Team Traders have appeased Adum, and the entire universe will enjoy +10% XP for two hours. All hail the Traders!
    or
    Team Strawberry Pancakes have appeased Adum, and the entire universe will enjoy +5% drop rates for the next hour. All hail the Strawberry Pancakes!

  • Spend X billion to reduce times on lockouts. e.g. Spend 1 billion for a tier 1 lockout to be reduced by X%, spend 25 bil for a tier 4 reduction.
  • Example: Spend 10 bil to reduce your Oly lockout by 50%, or to 11 hours

Those are just three off the top of my head.

Money for increased suitability is a terrible idea. Either it doesn't pay itself back (then why buy it), or it is just a fancy way to make more credits enter the economy through colonies. Everything else sounds great, especially the server-wide effects.

I have to say, i am LOVING AeM's suggestion....
I would drop 50bil on an oly run for the drop rate increase, XP increase and for a mod chance increase.

Oh... and as i am posting this i am waiting for the server to come back online... so how about a 500bil cost for a dedicated server hamster?

Only YOU (that paid the 500bil) get to be online when the server crashes... Would evil deeds ensue with no one to see what you are doing?
