Post Re: Anyone good with illustrator?
Not familiar with Fireworks. What I was looking for is basically the icons created using vector graphics so they can be exported and look nice at any size and color.

I do my GUI's with Fireworks... :P

I rarely don't use vector functions either. :P

PS, I'm now doing the engine small picture. :P

I got about half of the icons done in my spare time in class; I'll have to get the rest tomorrow. Making the radar icon with that slwirling line with the gradient behind it was a bit of a pistol, but I think it'll look fine at 28x28 and 14x14. (btw, do you want them in a larger size so you can use them elsewhere, or should I stick to the sizes you posted?)

They should be vector images or large enough so that scaling them isnt an issue. And if you need it:

Oh, wow, look what I found searching old conversations. Even more icons!

We need everything here except the "space asset" ones. Also, the damage types are not finished here, but if we could get an icon for each damage type, that would be pretty cool, since we could put those next to each weapon in the weapon drop down to make it easier to know which one does what sort of damage.

Ok, so I'll make them large enough that you can scale them down to needed sizes (or, make them SVGs,) and I'll get on the rest of them. I'm interning today, but I'll see how many of these I can knock out today and send them to you.

Post Re: Anyone good with illustrator?
I had gotten upto tractor (Small and large), so far.

Some aren't that great due to use of new tools on Fireworks I haven't needed before, but at least I am learning to use them! XD

I did manage to do a nice radar one, but this other one would be better quality at that large size. XD

As for the rest of the icons, Copper, do you want to finish off the first set Jeff pasted, and I work up from the bottom of the second set? :P

vector graphics should be inherently scalable, it shouldnt matter what size they are. if you pass them on as PNG be careful that its a vector format (fireworks export vectors to PNG correctly)

They were, I'm just saying that if you increased the size of my radar image, because I made it from two separate semi circles with gradients applied, it wouldn't look as good as there is would be clear section which you could see the gradient not lining up properly. Ofc, when the picture is only 10 or 20 pixels big, its not that noticeable. :P

I'm done and the icons have been emailed to Jeff.
Here's a preview of some icons for C2!

First is a drill bit, modified from the extractor icon:

Then the icon for engines:

And the icon for physical weapons: a bullet (Bill?) No, not really. The final version has no eye. :P

Post Re: Anyone good with illustrator?
OK. so I've been working with the large versions from Copernicus and converting them to the sizes we use in C2 and this is what we have so far: http://www.starsonata.com/icon_test/icon_preview.html

I added a glow on the biggest ones, because it seems a little nicer that way. Also, with help from Feathers, I did figure out how to extract high quality 14x14's from Q4's original screenshot. I think maybe we should just go ahead and use those for the 14x14's and use the new ones for the 28x28's and the 64x64's.

The 28x28 icons are what go in the top command bar, when you hotkey stuff, and the 64x64 is what goes in the picture next to the item description when you look at an item.

Does anyone else think we should keep the current C1 energy and engine icons instead of Q4's new designs for them?
