Like an epic 10 minute score just for when he kills a zebucart, because its that important. As for the f2p, who judges a game purely on its audio? Actually audio is one of the pure essences of marketing. Sure it's not the only thing, but it's extremely important in grabbing some of the "Modern" or "New" gamers when it comes to the higher league stuff.

As somewhat an audiophile myself, I agree that audio plays a huge part in games and the marketing of them. However, good audio also means that it isn't continuously playing a ton of excitable music all the time; there needs to be breaks in it. I'd get pretty bored after a while if the same music had been played to me over and over again. I'd rather it just trigger when in boss levels etc. A vanilla background noise like the one in that video is fine.

Either way, me and you are both weird people because we listen to ingame music while most people listen to their own music.

I only play my own music when playing SS .. when I'm not playing SS really (like sat in my construction base watching stuff build, or my colo bases earning me cash) but I can't concentrate with any other music when doing stuff like DG's and ubers.

Re: Star Sonata 2 movie: Me and Jey messing around
I was too lazy to put in some real C2 music, so that was just old C1 music playing, sorry. It's still undecided if there will be any place in C2 for C1-style music or not. We have quite a lot of new C2 music and it's all very good, though Grunt has a very good point about mixing things up.

Re: Star Sonata 2 movie: Me and Jey messing around
I suggest having the original C1 music playing somewhere. Not that breezy sound that plays atm, the old music.
Though it's probably not worth putting a lot of effort into audio, since 99% of the playerbase just turns off sound and listens to their own music anyway.

Re: Star Sonata 2 movie: Me and Jey messing around
We actually have a pretty sophisticated audio system already implemented. Each galaxy specifies which music it plays, and then when you jump form one gal to another that has different music, it fades from one to the other. We also have music for the log in screen and AI bases. Only thing is we haven't really set what galaxies are supposed to play which song yet, but we will get to that eventually.

Re: Star Sonata 2 movie: Me and Jey messing around
We should have slow and soothing music for C2. Gals with ubers should have fast and exciting music.

What genres of music will be utilized in SS2?

Is the music like themed to some of the gals? Say like Sol would be like kinda happy, home type music?

As for the f2p, who judges a game purely on its audio? umm, every human who isnt deaf? its subconcious mood setting, why do you think people play music at parties? music matters, especially in videogames where immersion is essential for players to want to continue playing, without music, creating a certain feel for a situation is MUCH more difficult the music in the video made me want to close the video, if i was starting at a new game, and i heard that, with 2d graphics, i would close the game(luckily, i was so into the idea of a space MMO where you actually flew your ship rather than clicking on where to go, that i decided to play without sound), and when you're trying to get new players, having something that makes them want to close the game as soon as they open it is usually a bad thing and pip, it isnt an overreaction, the preload should be built to entice players to continue playing, EVERY aspect counts, the preload needs to be so awesome that players are addicted before they leave it (not doing everything possible to make it better is increasing the quitrate of new players, and when someone just starts playing a game, that is the time when they are most likely to quit, which is why it is so important to do everything possible to prevent them from quitting) one other thing, the sound effects need to be less of a "pew pew" and more like what you hear when a wraith in halo fires its main weapon (not the same sound, but the same type.. they are massive ships after all, they should sound like massive ships)
