Post Wattage oddities: Level, drop tables and so on.
You may have noticed the following:

  • DG Boss Wattages appearing at level 753
  • DG Boss Wattages dropping large amounts of items
  • Roaming Wattages dropping large amounts of items

Essentially, Wattages have been fixed for the new universe. However, because we are re-organising drop tables and normalising AI levels / DF appearances, old code has recently awoken with a vengeance. We're forced to revert some changes until the new universe, because currently we cannot reload WildAI / DG AI mid universe. With a new uni start, the new code will get loaded, at which point Wattages will be set in stone and will work.

  • Wattages will be level 1750 in new uni
  • Wattages will have normal drop tables
  • James Watt will be boosted with larger shields and more abilities
  • Wattages will appear in the correct level DF DGs

Apologies for the foul up (and yes, sadly it means a lot of you have ultra-rare loot), however we are ironing out the kinks of four months without an update, but with code changes throughout that period.

New universe... Yes, service will get better.

Mind asking what the DF is for DG levels of them, and with them as bosses? Will the LvL2.8k Wattages exist next uni, if so, as bosses or in normal levels too?

James Watt is perfect the way he is now, takes some time with my MF with MTRs, I even have to bring an Elec Dread to do him, very nice shields on him.

Voom may have loaded the new version manually - I'll have to ask him. If so, then that is the new version.

You did him before the change, the change made him something like 10-15 times higher bank.

I accidentally un-re-reversed the Wattage fix whilst doing something else, which is why the patch didn't fix them. It is now fixed (again), but will require a patch.

Yes, but a fast one.

To explain the issue:

Initial issue:

Wattages had been set to auto-configure their level based on equipment, which resulted in them only being level 1200. Fixing this was simple, it just didn't go live due to the way WildAI are loaded (essentially once / uni on start).

Fubar time:

While we were looking at DG loot tables & DF variances it was discovered that high hull techs essentially broke the way the code handled AI's DF spread, loot and so on. We discussed fixes. Wattages happened to be set at Tech level 50; A content dev changed this Tech level to 25 and the patch automatically updated the hull (Hulls do get changed on patch). This, ironically (like hives), caused the original XML to actually work as it was written, as before the high hull tech had prevented it from doing so.

We're essentially "re-breaking" Wattages deliberately again until the new uni where the new code will be used and they will work as the new re-write dictates. I am also examining all of the AI to make sure others aren't broken, and essentially re-writing them.

tl,dr:

We know the issue; it is fixed. It won't be a problem next uni. Apologies for the down time.

Why did you put this in dev notes? Red wattage loot tables were already a bit of an open secret, but now every noob capable of killing one is camping the DGs constantly.

Look into it again.
A certain DG I know of has a Level 2850 Wattage as the Boss, used to drop Dement, or Hydro, or RoP, or so.
Now it drops Planetscanner Zs and Medium Launching Tubes. Through friends, ive collected info and trust me, we arent that unlucky, thats impossible odds.
Oh, and Mini-Rosie BPs. Constantly.
Fix.
