Post New beta client (not c2 sorry)
For those who wondered what i was working on lately. well, there is a lot more stuff than this, but heres something you guys might like.

First of all, a new patcher, because god forbid the current one suck bad ! and is a pain to use for us too, so here's a patcher made entirely by us allowing just about total freedom over the patches.

As a little bonus with the patcher, i compiled the client 1, with some new code optimizations, some people probably wont see a difference (other than the black background on edit boxes, its a side effect, but i like it so decided to keep it) other people could get a decent speed increase.

If you would please forum pm me any bugs you get with either the patchbot, or the client (bug that isnt on the current client that is), it would be greatly apreciated.

Oh right, i also edited that client so it wont switch the monitor resolution unless it need to. should fix the vista+ users who get blackscreen sometimes when they start a new client (need to use the same resolution as your desktop).

Anyway, have fun.

Jey forgot to mention that he's releasing this because he was writing the C2 patcher (and the guy who wrote the GUI, outside contractor) and suddenly Jeff and him realised that it could be used for C1...

Plus points:

1) Dynamic patching! (woot) Means no waiting ages for content patches (wooot)

2) See 1)

3) See 1)

4) C2 patching gizmo is done, which rather suggests the rest of it is kinda close as well ;)

My map isn't loading properly. Every time I log in or switch characters, I need to wait several minutes, at which point everything appears at once.

thats a current client 1 bug. its not a bug introduced with the new optimisations sorry. while i would love spending tons of time fixing stuff on c1, got more important things to do right now.

Like C2. Which can now patch our alpha builds automatically!

/sees you in about a month, won't be doing any C1 content for a while ;)

(Sadly, not true! I'm chained to C1, other people get the fun & games playing around n converting the C2 client)

The black screen flash has gone in this test version when it starts up which is very handy for me because I like running multiple apps.

(black screen flash used to blank other apps out = having to restart them)

Nice one Devs! :D

We're especially looking for people with slow computers and slow frame rates to try this. There may be a huge increase in performance.

Downloaded it on my primary computer and it works like a charm, I'll probably be downloading it to my netbook once I get XP installed. I'll post again when I try it on my netbook. :)

I have a very nice computer, ever since i got Windows 7, I dont keep the perfect 64 fps anymore...I stay around 50...this didnt change that if it was suppose to. however I really like the stopped changing resolutions thing.

Interestingly, I had worse framerate (17-20) in Hyperion with the new beta client than I did with the old client (50-60). Most other gals I can't tell the difference.

Using a 256mb RAM 32MB video card and a 2.0ghz single core processor and I no longer "jump" around when I go into the damage aura and all my movements and shooting are more fluid compared to before. Also, when my fps does drop. It does not jump with the randomness it used to.

Though, when I go from SS to,for example, SS forums and back. I get this slight shade of white that appears for second and then disappears. And as yugioh said, the map takes a long while to load.

Overall,I would say this is a significant improvement over the original client to me.

Also on another note, warping no longer has a second or so pause for me that it usually had.

try disabling the system friendly graphic to see your unlocked fps. the 50fps might be an issue with vsync being wrongly detected. I personally get about 200 more fps with the beta one than the regular client (490fps vs 270fps) more or less 10.

Didn't work for me(locked at 64fps) but I love the black screen fix.
