Re: New beta client (not c2 sorry)
Not a big issue, but I figured I'd mention that you should set the Installer's text bot control to "Read Only" because you can click on it and screw up the output.
Installer: Very fast and effective.
Program: I got lower FPS with System-Friendly Graphics off, but my video card is only a Radeon 4950 so whatever. FPS is sitting at 64 (unchanged), and most of the stuttering I noticed before went away. That's especially good because that stuttering got me killed a few times.

Re: New beta client (not c2 sorry)
i noticed that theres alot of text thats light blue in the old client and white in the beta. everything looked vaguely wierd and i couldnt place it till i started an instance of the old one to compare. Ironically, starting that black-screened the beta client

Re: New beta client (not c2 sorry)
I have some old computers (512Mb RAM, 600MHz ish Processor) I could run this on. See if it's any better...
Will this new client also run on Ubuntu with WINE? Or did you change it lots? XD

Re: New beta client (not c2 sorry)
It's the same client, just compiled with Visual Studio 2010 instead of Visual Studio 6 ('98), with tons of very minor changes needed to get it compiling in the more modern compiler and a couple bug fixes Jey found along the way.

Re: New beta client (not c2 sorry)
because compiling c1 in vs2010 meant fixing about 4800 errors, which...tend to be a good deterrent xD. happilly most of the errors were quick to fix, but there is only 1 way to know that.

Re: New beta client (not c2 sorry)
Nobody but Jey was eve masochistic enough to succeed before. A couple of us have tried at various points, but had given up after a couple hours of fixing countless compile errors with no end in site, especially when a lot of those errors are in windows and MFC source files. I secretly suspect the reason Jey finally did this, was that he thought it would be easier than finding and getting visual studio 6 running on his virtual machine thingy he has going on linux, and he needed to compile the client.

Re: New beta client (not c2 sorry)
Installed the new beta client on my windows 7 partition of my beat up old macbook pro. It froze twice but unfroze a few seconds later. Don't know if it's my computer or the client but it never did that before, or I never noticed. Overall though the performance seems better.
