Post Testing the new visibility system
The new visibility system and the new stats for radars are up on test. You need the test client for it at http://www.starsonata.com/TestClient.zip

Just extract it and put it in the same directory as your regular Star Sonata client and run the test client, pointing it at test.starsonata.com

Another change that I added to try out is that Seer's now only have to be not visible in order to get the ambush bonus where before they had to be not visible and not detectable.

Just updated test with the following changes:

  • Added new weapon, Seer's Blinder
  • Made visibility additive for stacked items
  • Increased visibility of fires
  • Reduced visibility on Flare and made the Flare a unique parasite
  • Halved the detection of all radars
  • Added default reflectivity for freighter hulls and other hulls that didn't have it set

just tested various radars on test

new vis system is broken

EG

lion flair detection VS panther istinct detection while pinging at 100% ping bonus

Panther instinct detection 1732 +!00% ping = 3464
Lion Flair detection 8250

panther radar on ping bonus can detect further than lion flair , but my maths here shows that is shouldnt

why is this so ?

The new radar stats are on test.

I think maybe the difference is that passive radars have better vision than active radars, while active radars have much, much better detection. Maybe you are seeing the better vision of a passive radar?

I tried downloading test client, and re-downloading ss itself earlier today and I couldn't get test to work at all, I got the same bug that we all got just now with the actual reset.

With the new visibility system, I was able to see the sun bob's towing station in sol is attached to. I've also heard that the invisible suns in UZ aren't as invisible anymore
