April 6th 2009 - Dev Update 10
Hey guys, Not much to report today. We mostly talked about Client 2 stuff, like contracting some things out (art mostly) and a couple new content dev applicants. I do know that the Drone inheriting 1/3 of skills is going to be in next patch, as well as the radiation dropping money if you kill it, and a radiated shell not regening shields so that its easy to kill. Also, the dark has been fixed by HAL to be more suited to the new aug math. Also, we had a meeting to design the new Client 2 UI features. A lot of debates went on but not much was decided at this point. I'll keep you posted with screenshots or videos when new things get into the game. Here are the player issues we had: - Unt Faranji Energy X has worse stats than a Panther Will, being a very expensive energy that requires a 4B ancient specialization skill to use (3200/360, 44 size on Unt FEX, 3500/331, 22 size on Panther Will).
- Engineer Tractor reward from Lyceum mission requires a nonexistant skill (Tractoring 18 and 20). I suggest lowering their tech to 14 for the prototype and 15 for the energizing beam.
- Tech level of certain tractors will be reduced. (PaperTiger)
- Master Chain Transfer underpowered. Engineers cannot heal as well as shield monkeys, so master chain transfer should enhance the target in a way that a Shield Monkey cannot. I suggest replacing the +2500 shields tweak which is duplicated by many ShM transferences) with a tweak that boosts the target's transference vulnerability and/or resists.
- Armada Ambushes used to be a high DPS, punch drones that do a lot of damage in a short period of time before running out of energy. Now they do nearly two times less damage than BFDs and still run out of energy. I suggest increasing their damage and reducing the energy bank slightly.
- Will be looked at when DM is looked at as a class. (PaperTiger)
- Engineer Factories? Currently there is only one factory that gives a small energy bank and regeneration bonus for 15 minutes. There is a commodity for sale at lyceum engineer base for a shield factory, which is nowhere to be found. Perhaps there could be a whole line of factories added to DG loot tables and engineer missions that would allow engineers to make a variety of tweaks on the go? Engineer could play a role of an "alchemist" that could combine several uncommon commodities into powerful tweaks.
- PaperTiger will make new factories.
- Baron drifts out occasionally. Happened to me a few times, when I saw baron on entry, but it never engaged me. Apparently he just flies out, and can be gone for several hours. This is a widely known and reported issue.
- Has the radiation killing money drop thing been taken care of?
- If you blow up the ship after its radded, it will drop the coins. Also, shield regen is disabled on radded ships (next patch)
I might be forgetting some stuff. Notes were pretty lackluster for yesterday's meeting cause I was lazy. Let me know if you have any more questions. -pip

I love the rad updates, and that the baron bug is being looked into.

Can the dark be fixed so that is not such a boring and annoying pain to get radar 19/20? All the other skills are much easier to get. In the dark rarely find an ai and even rare it drops commod.

Re: April 6th 2009 - Dev Update 10
I am just curious at the reasoning behind lowering the tech of the tractors ingame instead of just adding in tractoring 17-20. With the tractors lower tech wouldn't that neccesetate them having worse stats due to the balance tables?

I personally think the tractors should be left as-is for when higher levels of tractoring are eventually implemented.

Seems like someone changed that. I had stated that new Tractor levels would actually be added. I'm not sure why it was changed.
