When you fight panthers or even reavers it's common for missiles to lose their target and fly off to the ceter of the galaxy. Once this happens to three missiles, you can't launch anymore until you kill the target with guns or go find your missiles and kill them yourself. If the missile loses one stealthy target, the chances of it aquiring another are pretty slim. I'd rather just have it self-destruct wherever it managed to fly off to than have to go find it and kill it myself.
