Looks great.

Although imo, and this is just an opinion, the amount and rate that ships bank during turns should be relative to there turning, weight and speed. I dont think Ive seen any aircraft bank while stopped (using helicopters as an example, planes fall if they stop...dur).

Looks really nice :), and it still feels really... good old SS... I cant wait ^ ^

However I believe something will look odd... In the "non top-view", when the ships flight over plannets / sun, well, it looks "above" the planet. It might be a bit strange to see the bullets collide with the planet, with the new perspective...

Firstly, have you guys changed your mind about allowing the Camera to be moved in a dome shape? So we can see the ships from the front back and sides? Would make taking videos of fleet Combat pure awesomage.

Secondly, the engine effects are off. They appear to be at a lower level than the ships themselves, its clear with the Shrimp and Zebu. I dont know if it was intentional or not, just nitpicking.

Thirdly, the sizes of the ships compared to planets is too small. The planets probably need to be placed lower on the y-axis and increased by ATLEAST 300%, so a Zebucart doesnt look like it is as big as a planet.

We have a system for setting exact engine mounts for every ship in XML. We can set as many as we want in exact positions compared to the ship center. Not many of these have actually been set, and the ones that have have not been tweaked. Finally, this ships.xml will be in your content folders and will therefore be customizable so you can adjust the engine mounts if you like :).

Reading comments about planet size vs ship size..

Remember guys, this is SS. It has always been like that. SS is a fun loving game with a touch of comedy everywhere along with nonstop action. I expected this, and in my opinion it fits our enviroment very well. Plus the whole shooting planets thing is like you are boming it, and thats awesome.. imo.

So, if there is this amount of functionality, what are we still waiting on? I don't mean to sound impatient, but it looks like things are working from where I'm sitting. I'm admittedly a novice at coding and the like, but could you please explain what needs to still happen til you port the database over to this new client?

Heh, first off there is no "database" to port over to the new client. Secondly, their is a ton of graphics stuff that still needs to be done to make sure it all works on a lot of different setups. Thirdly, the UI still hasn't gone through its revamp, which I'll be doing over the next 2 months.

Or you can give us a test universe that us up to date with Client 2 so we can play around and stuff :) Its like.. pre-alpha beta.. the beta for pre-alpha.

This is really really great.
BUT, i think the view has to come a bit more from the "up". it's too "horizontal" atm.

My worry is the matter of distances. with perspective, it'll become hard to evaluate distance between stuff...
