Anyone want to help us make some planet textures for client2? All you need is a tiny bit of photoshop skillz.

Download this plugin called LunarCell: http://www.flamingpear.com/lunarcell.html and install it like any PS plugin.

Then make a 1024x512 image and use the filter to generate some random planets. After you find some settings you like, save one png graphic using the "map color" mode in the plugin for the texture map.

[edited] For the bump map, save a second version using the map mode "bump w/o ocean".

If you can get this all to work, post your textures and bump maps here along with suggested names and/o planet types (frozen, terran, etc) and if they're good, I will put them into client2.

We also need the ocean mask so the sunlight can reflect off the water, so in total we need:
1) map color
2) bump w/o ocean
3) ocean mask

any way we could we have our names integrated into the planet name database if we do this? I've allways wanted to have a planet naed Demiser's Dustbowl, or something like that.

If there is no reward, at least we'll know our work is in the game, which is cool anyway.

Would be cool to have a reward, like the other requests do. Maybe a ship that looks like the planet of the winner?

Your reward will be awesome looking planets in C2.

Thanks, those textures are exactly what we're looking for, and yes, if your suggested planet names are reasonable, then I will add them to the planet database.

I'm pretty sure anything like "Username's Planet" will be rejected. Try to make names that are not as obvious but still link back to you somehow. Ex: Klestike

Anyone figured out how to 'import' a jpg or png or anything into the plugin? Thats why i don't have a planet image for the volcano one... saved over it on accident before i read the instructions

Very impressive for something generated by plugin. Most of the terrain images could use manual adjustments, especially in the color/hue department
