Post Some proposed beefs to Snipers
  • +20% damage with physical weapons (1% per level)
  • Re-scale the speed modifier from 0-100 to 0-200
  • Add some sniper-only physical weapons with -speed debuffs
  • (maybe) some new, small stealthy drones with point defenses and very short ranged buffing auras to range or stealth

Personally, I think the damage modifier should be something like 50-150. You should not need to hold perfectly still, just go somewhat slowly.

Also, sniper still will have VERY low DPS (someone worked it out, it was something like +70% DPS from skills when you considered the nerf to RoF).

Personally I think snipers need good, stealthy,sniper only engine
the bana t20 engine is some kind of joke, its has 1k less thrust then qua vazuk does,bigger, just more turning

He means the re-scale should be removed completely, so snipers suffer no negative effects for speed.

Nah, then we'd have snipers going 350 speed, which would be broken.

20% damage boost is a bit small,i think...but thats just me. I'd make it 30-40% personally. Again, just me.

Snipers need long range and very fast projectile speed or beam because of the range .
To use the range they need to see the target , so they need to see things so they need very good radar or some other ability to target stealthy/long range targets.

If you give them drones you will also need to give them extra hull space.

To boost sniper then need to lose the extra energy used when they fire. Someone said that sniper get 70% extra dps if you factor in their extra elect usage you see that snipers are a joke atm.

I like the idea of scaling their speed between 50 - 150 thats a great idea.

For sniper to be able to pvp add radar bonus to them or make their guns light up targets to give their targets more vis for a short time. Much like a real life sniper would "target paint" something for a missile to hit.

Definitely a projectile speed boost, though omit beams. Lasers are fast enough already. Some damage buffs (low DPS but insane DPH), and for Adum's sake, give the Ukuk an extra weapon slot and some inbuilt range and damage buffs...

beams arent projectiles :P you cant speed up how fast they travel they are instant or almost.

I should have been more clear, I meant that I removed my comment since I misunderstood what Jeff meant at first and had to edit it out. I have no problem with the speed modifier.. although I would also like to mention I also think that if there is a way for the skill to actually increase projectile velocity via a Sniper Skill.. that might make them a class worth playing as well.

There's just a really long list of things needed.. I'm actually thinking about making a Sniper my first character when I come back, so I hope it's going to be a viable class by then ;)
