Dev Update 5 - Your Questions
Hey Folks, This week is not really a question, but a concern. What do you dislike doing in C1, something that is UI related, that you think could be fixed in C2? Limit it to 1 concern, please. I will answer these personally on how I imagine I will fix them. Please keep it short, and don't offer solutions yourself (that wouldn't be fun ). Example of what to post: - I don't have room to carry all the gear I need on runs and pick up loot. My Answer: You will be able to bring along a trade slave to pick up loot for you by selecting the slave and right clicking on the debris. Example of what not to post: - I don't like how xxx looks.

the team/possessions/missions windows... want those to be resizable.. and want em to remember their size want to sort missionlist by status or by name, maybe even a search function ( though that probably isnt ui related anymore... ) Pip - Search is definitely UI. UI stands for user interface, and as far as I know a search allows the program to better interface with the user .

Make the ingame team list sortable, by rank, name, and online/offline status.
ups...thats not a question, ill rephrase: Whats makes the team list UI stink? The lack of ability to sort by rank, name and online/offline status.

Most annoying thing for me atm is managing docked slaves. I only have four, but I still dread swapping gear around. Imagine what it must be like for deadbeat, putting one of each individual item into each of his 20-odd helga+ slaves whenever he wants to add, remove or replace something.

It is annoying when I want to search for something in my storage ships, because of the great amount of items. So it would be good if we could sort ship inventories by tech level, size, name etc.
I also find it annoying when I want to see what route my AP will take, but until my ship takes me there, I cannot be sure which route it shall take me on. The map viewer should display this information.
An annoyance I encounter quite frequently is that I cannot add a waypoint to my autopilot routes. As a slow zerker, I prefer to avoid large galaxies with the wormholes far apart. I am required to manually navigate away from these gals, which defeats the point of *Auto*pilot.
The problem with the current system of things is that we have to use the chat bar to search for galaxies, when we want to check if a friend is online, etc. It is not obvious to new players that they are required to use the /search command in the chat bar, so a search box should be implemented in the map viewer itself.
The friends list feature is such an obscure feature, I am sure many players don't know such a feature exists. A separate window for friends would solve this, and perhaps a little popup could tell us when a friend logs on? Or at least a notification in the Event channel.

Its annoying that you can't Abort a mission when you select it in a station -- you have to go all the way to the Missions list and look through your 200 or something Missions not in any order trying to find the mission to abort.

make slaves groupable so you can issue a command to all active slaves integrate squad / mission / team window into main ui so u can see hwere they are and if they are online make commands repeatable, so when u misspell "./w somecomplexname you can repeat the command and edit it integrate chat channel opening into ui - click on player ship brings up a menu to open a chat channel create hotkeys for slave commands create a searchable map by offering a search box below the galaxy map show items on ships in posessions, make it searchable make radar windows bigger / resizable make ship template, so u can save a config and buy a new ship including config if all items are offered at station show what u lost on kill in events have two chat windows with channels independently selectable for larger resolutions, left events - right team show the full map from the start, with visited indicator... looking for galaxies and asking in channels is a pain in the ass why does the price windows expire ? there is no reason that the last prices on a station are deleted... hotkey to directly cycle own drones and slaves
othrwise i spend a lot of time on this game... babbahotep

Its gets really tiring having to agro drones on other drones or bases, imo if something shoots you your drones should shoot back(even against team mates in arena).

I've always hated it when I start attacking something with my Reaver laser, and the position it shows the AI in is not the position the Reaver laser is hitting (which is the actual position of the AI). I don't use the Reaver laser that much anymore, but it still would be nice to have fixed EDIT: sorry if this is more of a general bug than a UI issue Pip - you're right, its not figured something that would probalby fall under UI is separating items by type . . . e.g. tweaks, capacitors, shield chargers, diffusers/dampeners, etc that would be very helpful.

I dislike how communication in game is currently restricted to only a handful of channels.
Unless you run around, squadding people, there is no way for a group of players to discuss issues, unless they all meet in the same place.
I hope C2 will improve communication between players, by introducing the ability to make custom chat channels.

I dislike the tedium of updating shop prices, especially at the beginning of a new uni. Pip, I think this is something you once talked about fixing in C1 on the suggestions forum. Could have been another mod though.
