Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
Found this nifty site earlier http://www.gw2tools.com/skills. Also, the combat system for GW2 looks awesome, definitely want to try it out, and the massive WvWvW PvP sounds cool too. I'm definitely pre-ordering it! I just wish I could download the beta client early on, but the sheer size of it means I absolutely won't be doing any such thing, sucks to live in an area with poor internet infrastructure.

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
No, there will be multiple BWE's, at least two more I'd think. Then if you pre-ordered you can play the game three days before its official release.

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
Guild Wars 2 Stress Test soon, I know when I'm gonna fake a sicky! It's only going to last for 7 hours, and the server's probably gonna be terrible so I doubt I'll even get that much game time, but I'm going to try and do as much of the different things I can to get a feel for the game.

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
I saw that today, and I'm pretty psyched for it. If anyone wants to play with me, I'll be on the "Tarnished Coast" server. My character is named The Pillow Fluffer and he's a badass warrior.

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
Is there the possibility of multiple characters?
If so, I wanna be Griffin Grundy, the Stabber of Zees.

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
Yes, you can have multiple characters, although the character limit for names is 19, so you could have Griffin Grundy the Stabber. It took me a full minute to get your reference to me. I might just take that name. Oh by the way Churchill, the Guild Wars 2 puts TES lore to shame. You should check out "woodenpotatoes"'s YouTube channel. He's more obsessed with lore than you and he's been answering lore questions every day for months. Here's an example video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyMN90Rp ... ata_player

That was an interesting vid, I like how the Charr jumped off the edge and fell to his death!

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
I watched that last video; gameplay seems completely different from Diablo 3 so I'm not sure why you posted in the other thread as if this were an alternative.

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
You asked for what TERA combat would be like; it's essentially third person real time combat. Practically none of the skills are lock on, and even the majority of those can be dodged. The game places huge emphasis on fighting BAM's, which while intended for group combat, can be soloed given skill. In TERA, level is very important; beating a player 2 even two levels above you is very difficult. On the other hand, I've seen players successfully solo BAM's 5-8 levels above their level with a combination of skill and...well...skill.
From what I've seen of guild wars 2(watched some people streaming it) it's a step in the right direction, but not far enough to really interest me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE6sKI0D ... ata_playerAlso this. This guy does a much better job at showing why the GW2 combat system is incredible.

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
Divinity's Reach is bloody huge, events are pretty fun (ran into one annoying bug at the beginning though - just that one so far and it's not big), the dynamic events do seem to get pretty generic after a couple, but there's loads to explore and see. I also like how I can change my skillset by using different weapon combinations which really does change how I play significantly... And since I'm an elementalist I can also change my attunement which changes it even more! And that is just down right awesome. I haven't tried PvP yet, I don't think I will for a while, I'm too sucky with my skill usage atm .

Re: Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event
My hope is that the repetitivity of dynamic events is only at the lower levels (like the pack bull guarding) so that people can get a feel for the game. I know that this is true for AI, because I do see that the level 20+ AI is better those of the lower level mobs.
