Megaupload endorsed by artists. Foreigners arrested.
Associated Press wrote: Megaupload was unique not only because of its massive size and the volume of downloaded content, but also because it had high-profile support from celebrities, musicians and other content producers who are most often the victims of copyright infringement and piracy. Before the website was taken down, it contained endorsements from Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys and Kanye West, among others. BBC News wrote: Kim Dotcom, formerly Kim Schmitz, was among the four in New Zealand that were arrested on Thursday for violating piracy laws. The company itself is listed as being based out of Hong Kong and names musician Swizz Beatz, husband to Grammy winner Alicia Keys, as its CEO. Dotcom is being pegged by authorities as the founder of Megaupload Limited and is among a roster of other persons accused of being affiliated, which includes citizens of the Netherlands, Estonia, Germany and Slovakia.
Back in America though, law enforcement officials conducted search warrants related to the charges, and seized, internationally, $50 million in assets. It had been endorsed by those who probably have their own "copyrighted materials" pirated. It has been sometimes stated and often suggested that musicians and other artists do not really care if their songs are pirated, mainly because most of their income comes from concerts.
So does the United States government see this? Are they aware that they are/were trying to pass a bill to help people who don't really care about it?
Furthermore, why has the world allowed the United States government to come in other countries and arrest foreigners?

Ever since the Cold War ended and the rest of the world quickly took note of the fact the US has a bigger military than the next 5 combined.

I believe their servers were being hosted in the USA, therefore, since the infringing material was located in the USA the US are legally in the right.

That's statement you made doesn't sit good with me... I mean, if I said that statement was false, it'd be taken as everyone should attack their server... (so I won't say that)
Honestly though, I don't see any reason for them to take more than the magnetic state of the harddrives the server uses. Also, wikipedia says that the company is based in Hong Kong. Soo... the device being controled by another device is all that is being attacked?
To make the previous sentence clear: The Soviet Union sends a bomber to bomb the United States. It drops the nuclear bomb and blows up a city. The bomber is then shot down and no further action is taken. That's essentially what has happened here. And in fact, with this analogy, that plane would be a US military plane the US had lent remove control of to the USSR.

Your statement honestly has and still does confuse me. But okay. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/apnewsbreak-feds-shut-file-sharing-website-15396093#.Tx1wKfmO6SoABC News wrote: Megaupload is based in Hong Kong, but some of the alleged pirated content was hosted on leased servers in Ashburn, Va., which gave federal authorities jurisdiction, the indictment said. So I was wrong, only some of their servers are hosted in the US. I haven't voiced any opinion. I'm just stating what I thought happened.

Pretty crazy that this movie-esque arrest scene happened 40 minutes drive from where I live, don't get much FBI action around New Zealand!
He's got NZ's best lawyer on his case, the guy is legend, so he won't be going anywhere for a while imo.
I wish I made 150k a day like this Kim Dotcom guy (and goett)

Furthermore, why has the world allowed the United States government to come in other countries and arrest foreigners? So, if a few of them don't care about their stuff getting stolen, then it's ok to steal from the rest of them? You say the musicians make most of their money from concerts - who makes money from the CDs? Some great big company that produced and promoted the CD, right? Why do thousands of people flock to a big venue to see a top band in concert? Because some big company did a good job of promoting and producing their CDs. I've seen plenty of great bands playing on the weekends in local bars. They aren't making any real money though. The big record label adds value to the band's product and helps them make all that money from concerts and, yes, a fair bit from CD and MP3 royalties. The musician doesn't have any standing to "endorse" theft when the record label owns a large interest in the product that is being stolen. The label has a very valid ownership interest in the copyrighted material. As to your last question: The U.S. could arrest people in another country in this case because of treaties and understandings between nations. Lots of countries cooperate with one another on law enforcement issues to varying degrees because they understand that criminals moving between countries or sitting in one country while directing criminal operations in another are bad for all of the societies involved. Every once in awhile you get a country that won't cooperate with anyone else on extradition and such. Those are the places where Nazi war criminals go to retire.
