They were never Point Defenses. It's as much a Point Defense as this is a Point Defense.

This, however, is a Normal Caplaser.


There are some places where I would want the big gun, but there are also some places I would want the smaller gun. Submersible Destroyers(AI Controller) could get under the big guns of a Battleship. On the other hand, another Destroyer would be able to fire on the surfacing enemy.

But, for shore bombardment, I'd take the big one any day. It's very overkill on low-priority targets, and a waste of ammunition.

I never understood why you and Bonecrusher use real-world references that have absolutely no place in Star Sonata whatsoever. Just because a real world ship has a gun on it does not mean that's what an in game capital laser is.

There's Sol, and after that there's essentially no parallel between this game and reality. Other games might try to do things that are more realistic, which in and of itself is impossible, considering it's science fiction.
