Post SS Dota pvp game.
Sonata Warzone

(Oh yes, the basic Dota game, for SS)

Reasoning: At least 10% of the playerbase seems to play or have played some sort of Dota game. Some players even got bored and unsubbed from SS, yet continued to play their Dota game. If this was added and was made good, maybe they will come back? At least it’d bolster advertisement.

It would require several developers to add content and make the field, as well as 10 or so players to provide initial feedback on anything that comes out.

You'd still play in 3rd person ss2 view, with a bit more control. Your skills in the real universe are separated from your Pilot in the Warzone, so any class can pilot a stealth ship, or a tank ship.

Introduction

The Warzone is an intended PvP Zone for people to bash each other’s heads without the retaliation that normally comes afterwards in the winner’s galaxy. The player is called a Pilot, and takes control of a Computer Ship of one of the various Factions participating within the Warzone.

The initial Warzone Site would be named The Neutral Zone, a border between two of the factions. The objective of TNZ is to destroy the opposing side’s HQ Drone. To achieve this, one side must travel down one of the two lanes and attack at the weakest area they can find. To make the HQ Drone vulnerable, one of the two Power Drones must be destroyed, which in turn require all Tower Drones within the lane to be destroyed.

Cooperation is key for success. One player, no matter how experienced, cannot carry the whole side on his own.

Features:
-Two Lanes in which to push the enemy to their base of operations.
-Three Neutral Zone areas in which neutral NPC’s can be found and killed for exp and credits.
-Turret Drones that provide a defensive position on key areas of the map.
-Base of Operation for each side at opposite ends of the Field. Each Bop contains a shop, Power Drones, and tougher Tower Drones defending their side’s HQ Drone.
-Pilots do not show their Player Name, Team Name(if they are on a team), or SS Level in any WS fight.

Note: There are physical obstacles in TNZ, making it impossible for Pilots to go wherever they want, and to dumb down the game somewhat for newer players.

In each TNZ game, the pilot is the person controlling the ship in play. The pilot can level up their ship by killing Neutral AI, Enemy AI, and Enemy Pilots. Leveling up boosts the base stats of the Pilot’s Ship. Pilots can gain Inside Credits from the same kills. The Credits can be used to purchase items at the PIlot’s Side’s shop in their Bop. Items massively boost the power of the Pilot’s Ship for the specific game he or she is in, allowing newer players to compete with veterans.

Each Pilot has six item slots. A wide variety of items allow for different setups to be fielded. Items come in three power levels. Level one are the cheapest, and obviously the weakest. Level two are more powerful, along with added costs. Level three can be game changing. Most items can be combined to condense them into less items. The combined item stat booster are a bit more powerful than separate, and often have unique bonuses.

Pilots gain Outside Credits for completing matches. OC can be used for purchasing Seals, which would give them small permanent bonuses for the veterans. They can help early game, but are not a big enough bonus to guarantee a win for the side with them. Cooperation from the enemies can beat back the advantages from a bunch of Seals.

Ships attack using their basic attack weapon. They can use Special Powers, from their Super Items. Each ship have 1 Passive Power, 3 Normal Powers, and 1 Super Power. Most Special Powers use Energy, but some may use the owner’s Shields, or may be entirely cooldown based.

The Powers can in many shapes and sizes. Some can be Power Ups for the ship, while others could help support the team. Some can be ranged attack Powers, and then there can be scouting Powers. Each ship has a unique set tailored to it.

Ships that can be used in SWZ are stock ships. There is no way you can modify them outside items and seals. No augs, no different weapon set, etc. Each ship can have a number of tags denoting how the ship is meant to be Piloted. The tags are as below:

Stealth: The ship has some means of escaping detection for a period.
Assassin: The ship has some means of doing massive burst DPS.
Support: The ship has means to bolster the assist allies.
Courier: The ship has some means of burst speed.
Tank: The ship is intended to take blows others cannot.
Melee: Short range fighting ship.
Ranged: Longer range fighting ship.
Special: The ship is intended to use its Special Powers for attack.

Each ship starts with basic and weak stats. As the Pilot levels up the ship, the stats increase. The stats are separated into Offensive, Defensive, and Special.

Offense stats
Attack Power: Basic Attack strength
Rate of Fire: Basic Attack speed
Critical Hit: Deals extra damage from Basic Attacks(default is +50%)
Resist Penetration: Amount of resist pierced
Shield Steal: Converts some basic attack dealt into shields gained
Movement: Your max speed

Defense stats
Shield Bank: Max Health
Shield Regeneration: Shields gained back over 1 second
Resist: Reduction of damage done by Basic Attacks
Special Defense: Reduction of damage done by Special Powers
Dodge: Chance to avoid damage entirely(DO A BARREL ROLL)
Anti-CC: Reduction of duration of Crowd Control effects

Special stats
Energy Bank: Max Energy stored
Energy Recharge: Energy gained back over 1 second
Special Power: The power of your Specials
Cooldown Reduction: Time reduction % of your cooldowns
Special Penetration: Amount of Spec Def pierced

Perhaps, kane. But ArmadaOnline is a MMO with a Dota pvp arena. It synergizes pretty well for the alpha stage it's in.

This would be a good excuse to also implement a type of factional warfare thing like EVE has, as well as tripling solo/group content elsewhere.

The way I see it, is that people who like competition without Traders or DM stomping on their bases when they lose can play the dota game. People that like the pvp without being called pirates have the factions shit, and normal people who want to bash bases as well can play in Wex's Empire Space.

Suits a wide variety of people and provides that much more weight to Jeff's ads.
