I was wondering if Jeff/Voomy had spoken or contacted any of the big youtube gaming personalities about covering the C2 launch.

I watch TotalBiscuit as well as a few others and have noticed that a lot of the 'WTF is [game]' "first impressions" that he does are by indie developers, and that when he commentates a video he is one of the more honest people out there even when he doesn't enjoy the game you can rely on an objective conclusion about the quality.

Jeff or a player could ask him to check out Star Sonata, even do a developer side commentary with several different characters from different "levels" of play. Show some PvB/BvB with players etc.

If it happens and the review is even at a 'meh its ok level' there's potential for a lot of people to join the game. Even the indie games he looks at generally end up on the top sellers list on Steam for example.

Other people to contact may be, colbycheeze and presshearttocontinue (sometimes does impressions videos on games viewers/viewers friends make)

I wouldn't really recommend Yogscast for an actual impression of the game, their shows tends to revolve around minecraft mainly and linear RPG type games, they tend to rely on their rapport to make the show entertaining as opposed to the game on the screen and therefore its hard to judge how good a game is as they haven't really talked about it during the video.

Still, maybe after all of the actual reviews and whatnot, they could do a comedy show in SS. It would still get word of the existence of the game out there.

It'd definitely be funny ^_^, but as you said it would be a bad idea to have Yogscast 'premier' the game since their reviews are more comedy factor.

its sad that a fairly decent idea like this is being ignored...


SS cant rely on its players to spread word of the game, most of them would deny playing it if asked on the street infront of people they know IRL...

I think it's definitely a good idea. But isn't this something we should do once beta starts?

I can generate keys and mail them to whoever I want.

most game reviewing shows on TV get previews

if you gave a few vloggers a sneak peek at C2 it could generate some decent interest in SS

the vloggers will do it, because getting a preview of a game that hasnt been released yet, vindicates them as vloggers, it makes them feel like they have real jobs.


you need to do it now, for the same reason that big developers advertize and give out previews to journalists



the only downside is that you might end up with so many people that the server cant handle the workload (and as far as downsides go, they dont get "better" than that)

Just before release would be the best time to get reviews out since there should be no major bugs and the press guy/reviewer is still getting a "preview" so to speak.

Making up some press accounts and could be good in the meantime.

It'd be good to contact people in advance to arrange a date if you want to do stuff like developer or player commentary.
