Alright. i cant garantee this will fix all problems. but most should be fixed using that trick.

If your running windows 7/vista, download the installer, but instead of installing in c:\program files. install in a folder your user has all power on (like c:\user\username\starsonata) or my documents for those who dont know much about how things works. this should also fix your issue with the map not saving.

if you want to keep it in program files. then you need to do 2 things.

1st. run the patcher once as admin (i uploaded a new version that force the patcher to run as admin).
2nd. To fix the map issue, right click on the cache folder. go in security, and give your user all power over the cache directory, so that starsonata can write to it.

oh right, i forgot to specify. if your patcher run in loop a while, it can cause you to be blocked from the patch server for 5 minutes due to the spammage. if that happen. youll get a few errors right when it try to connect (validation errors iirc). then the patcher crash (i need to fix that crash btw lol). if that happen, just wait 5 minute and try again. (trying before the 5 minute wont reset your time, so there is no harm if you do).

If you think its been more than 5 minute and still get that message (be real sure please). send me a pm and we can check it some more.

I followed your instructions on the installation of SS2 in your post Jey, even tried beta client as well. btw I forgot where the dumpfile is as soon as I know I wll send it to you. I continue to get the Update Failed issue.
