Sure, they hurt, but my two docking aug paximinus with.. I think it was 10k bank? made it without dying once, or loosing too much bank...
Deflector is a pain for new players, and I agree with that, but don't start saying stupid things.. please.
If you get raped that badly try a voli laser dif.

and if your gonna go on about yoru discoveries then just remove Deflector or make ai bases only have Core skills this is gettin rather stupid and defeats purpose of few gals.
