Guide to less lag
Go to My Computer>C-Drive>Program Files>Starsonata>img>FX
Delete all the files in there theat have the word Particle in it...
If you want to get the files back go to your Recycle Bin, Right click the files that you deleted earlier, Start a new SS client and you should get the cool effects back...
WARNING You will not see Cool effects like engins and the glowing of thoraxes or the glowing on urka ka but it damn well gets rid of lag... try it if you lag all the time WARNING

This game was programmed long before dual cores were starting to become common. It was never meant to be used on dual cores but the mythical Client V2 should.

I'm sure some will really thank you for this post. Even my home machine a dual core system with 4 gigs of ram and a 512mb 8800 Evga card has lag issues at times with the game. Although on that system I would not do this, however this is very helpful for my older laptop system with the onboard video blahs.
Thanks

This is also how you remove those bars and warp graphics glitch when you have a radeon card.

The current lag isn't caused by slow Internet speeds or bad computers. Its caused by specific faults within the server side software. Jeff has been working on a patch for a while now but can't release it yet to fix the terrible lag.
Simply put, the server side software sucks, the current client also sucks. It has nothing to do Internet speeds and computer specifications anymore.

If you are fighting with lots of drones, let's say 12 faranji blasers and you still have lag, even with the particles turned off, disable the sound. Faranji blasers shoot 5(?) projectiles each, which cause 1 sound on impact each, multiplied by 12.. that's a lot of sounds which lags.

Re: Guide to less lag
twodotwhatever wrote: I really think LAG is from slow connection speed. I ran Verizon at 230k (which I have never gotten...more like 130) and Star Sonata would crash when going through a wormhole. Sent support a e-mail with no reply gotten....but I play Eq1, Flyff , Worldforge (Sear & Ember) and they have small lag issues also. Have to blame my connection. When ping times are over 600 then expect problems
Got a new aircard which does 1.3m/sec (and it does do it) so I will see what happens. I know EQ1 is better. I will post again if the problem of instant disconnect stops. somebody explained the different types of lag very clearly... now, if somebody could find it...
