ok first of all she sounded like kirby swallowed something that made his voice messed up.

and second of all be glad i didn't say "wow her being female is annoying" or "the lack of breast footage in this video is annoying." i was just letting the future viewers of this video mentally warn themselves that this woman's voice is the most annoying thing since slime time live.

Forget her voice, I don't find the actual pitch bothersome, but... the way she presented it was just so bland, it was horrendous. I would compare to this to the guy who made a video tutorial series - but sounded like a slurred retard with absolutely no actual interest in what they were saying; they gave the excuse that they were sleepy (for all ten billion videos they made), which is like me saying, "Hey, this year I decided to make a birthday present for you instead of buying it. Have this crap I took a few minutes ago. I expect you to like it because I'm doing it out of kindness."

I'm just annoyed because I had to listen to the entire thing to judge it fairly. I swear she spoke at the rate of a snail! *slight exaggeration*

I could point out much better examples of gaming written from a female's perspective that are relatively recent, articles that I personally thought were great and agreed with to a large extent but, I've completely forgotten where I read them because I can't memorise an entire, semi-human-readable url. I don't think it'd be too hard to just do a google search though.

Anyway, moving on to her actual video. She is just plain wrong about the industry thinking that females make up a minority of gamers, there have been a lot of studies done on the topic, and a lot of people have already brought it up so many times I'd be damned if more than a teeny fraction of people actually believed that were the case. Indeed though, over-sexualisation is predominant in many games, particularly MMO's with over-the-top sexy stripper women. But that's really quite a subjective issue and you will find people of both genders on both sides of the fence. I personally think there's a niche for both under and over, because my mood doesn't stay the same. If there's both, and there is, I don't feel it's an issue at all.

Another thing I've noticed is that although she tries to avoid it, she's actually quite opinionated in the way she proposes things. For example, when she talks about first person shooters she's really just stating her own perspective on it, even more apparent when she says there should be less Samus and Lara Crofts. I highly doubt she is able to speak for every female.

Heck, my sister likes playing CoD, BF, Fallout, wrestling games, all games I don't even like yet I believe are really popular with the entire demographic, not just males (though I'm not citing anything here so don't take my word for it). I have yet to see her purchase anything cutesy, just shelf upon shelf of muscle-men fake-fighting.

tl;dr - She is oversimplifying it and is biased. I think this is another case of someone just jumping onto the bandwagon without truly understanding the topic. I'm by no means unbiased, but I'm not the one trying to make an informative presentation. It's annoying because people like her that misrepresent information... Cause others to misrepresent information! Gah, it's like Kony all over again!

Indeed. I would much prefer it if she followed a common speech outline rather than somewhat blathering the way she did. I admit, I did not watch the entire video, but with such a low informational output, I find it hard to blame myself.
