Every time I've seen that happen blue dwarf, it's because the hive pushes an AI with its tractor, then the AI it tractored retaliates by attacking it. Most ai simply don't have the damage to do anything to a hive, but obviously a hawk has no problems breaking ones regen. For some reason they just randomly decide to start pushing things around, even other AI.

By "fixed," do you mean that Hives are truly reverted to their proper state, or that they'll simply stop pushing AI around? You realize that the Hives that currently behave that way also have no drop tables, which is a bit more of an issue.
