Want the ability to turn OFF the initial graphic
Want the ability to turn OFF the initial graphic while loading SS.
This seems to be DLed every time SS is loaded and only slows the loading of the game.

Re: Want the ability to turn OFF the initial graphic
The DS in front of the sun? You realize that it takes maybe 1.5 seconds for that image to load, tops?
The reason it comes in slow is because it's a loading page, the image is loaded top to bottom as a percent of the loading progress.

Re: Want the ability to turn OFF the initial graphic
Removing progress bars or their equivalents will not make loading something faster

The reason it comes in slow is because it's a loading page, the image is loaded top to bottom as a percent of the loading progress. There was a point in the beta where that image was not included and the SS start-up window loaded about 3X faster.

Re: Want the ability to turn OFF the initial graphic
It loads differently for different setting. I for one use preset textures and a bunch of other things to smooth my gameplay. It takes ~15 seconds.
Someone who plays on low and does not have all the fun settings on have like 10% of that time, but when it counts, warps take longer to warp through before you can control your ship again.
That extra 3 to 5 seconds of no control could cost you your ship and pod in pvp as a SD.

Re: Want the ability to turn OFF the initial graphic
Well, if your computer is actually that bad, you can just make a UI mod with a blank 1 pixel image instead.
Program Files/Star Sonata/Content/Default/UI/Images/Misc/loading.jpg

That image is a progress bar Bone. The progress being the loading off all things (specifically textures) into memory. In beta i don't think we had texture preloading.

Re: Want the ability to turn OFF the initial graphic
You can still turn off texture preloading, though I don't see why you would unless you're only logging on for a second.

SS on high texture detail takes ~ 1.5 gig of Ram to hold. What you're seeing is your own system speed reflected as a nice progress bar. It has nothing to do with the server, or your bandwidth speed. If you want it faster, get a better machine. /closed
