Re: Uz backrounds
you can do so using a skin if you so desire it. just make a skin with empty image instead of those used by the background.

Re: Uz backrounds
Here's a basic skin that removes the crazy backgrounds from ngrongoro->prince and crater->KKK Just extract the zip in your <SS2>/content folder For kane: if you want the ngorongoro->prince backgrounds back, remove the vapor* files from <content>/custom/textures/Background and it will use the defaults again. NOTE: you need to restart SS for skins to take effect.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Uz backrounds
I will be happy with an option to turn the backgrounds off. Every game has that option, some of us just hate them in general. I don't care about reducing lag, I just want an option so that i can play on High settings without getting lag from the bloody backgrounds.
But that seems like too much to ask.

Re: Uz backrounds
you can disable them easily with a skin. But as i said many times, the backgrounds are not whats causing you lag. If you run the beta client, type /dp once when you start feeling the lag, wait about 1 min, and type /dp again to get the profiler data on screen. Send a copy paste of that data to dmpfile@starsonata.com and we will see whats causing your lag.

Re: Uz backrounds
So you are suggesting I edit the backgrounds so that its just blank? That will take forever. Most of us just hate the backgrounds for everywhere in general, I mentioned this earlier, I like the stars background absolutely fine.

Re: Uz backrounds
The fuzzy cloud-like particle swirls are what causes horrendous lag for me. It's like, even on medium, there are millions of individual particles to keep track of, and my computer just cannot do that.
Frame Skip 3. Fixed.
Anyone else with this particular problem, try that.

Re: Uz backrounds
unless your on wine or on an intel graphic card. The frame skip has no impact on the performance. (if you are using wine or an intel gpu, then yea frameskip would cause the logic fps to be 1-4times faster than the render fps at the cost of a bit of fps).

Re: Uz backrounds
I am trying out the beta client, if i type /dp it creates a dmp file and I send it to you? Whats the point in that :S

Re: Uz backrounds
/dp is not supposed to create a dmp, but print profiler data to the screen, which i can then use to determine what is causing you to lag with a much higher precision.
if it crash, thats obviously not the intended use, and if you sent me the dmp, it will be fixed before long.

Re: Uz backrounds
I dont know if you guys are talking about the same thing but when lag killer does its stuff, the stars dissapear and I have a feeling the game looks so much better without those. Is there a possiblity that I remove it?
