I'd much rather just have the ability to camp certain types of AI for the various kinds of augs instead. Nothing more exaggerated than the elevated frequency of hostile+damage in Copper, for example.

Yes. An AI with a higher drop chance for every grade and type of augmenter.

I like the idea of certain AI simply having loads (say 30) augmenters when they spawn instead of having a loot table.

The difficulty would scale with the reward and you could make them occasional DG bosses or something.

They actually do drop the augs they're equipped with, too... Not many have played with shipscanners on spacerats, but it works on them. Probably something to do with organic though...

That being said, 30 on each, DROP RATE NERF. Woot!

Also, biggee, what do you mean one drop type? You mean they all drop a certain grade of aug and you raise it and lower it? That'd be a bad idea. *coughcompressminorsellbasiccough* Higher ones would still be more valuable for ai base sell price, if the single drop was minor, gonna need lots. If it was top tech, minor would be VERY expensive. Unless I misunderstood you of course.

SkyTitan, have you somehow never camped Copper for damage augs? We are talking about generic AI types dropping specific kinds of augs. You can camp minor-exc damages in the various copper levels, for example.

Nah, I'm just responding to biggee's post. I think I misinterpreted it?

We might as well just have 1 type of aug drop instead of the 6 we have now if this were to go in.

6 types would be the six different tech levels of augs
I was merely responding to his post as I generally disagree with him.

I have no problem with different Ais having different rates of dropping, but the topic was derailed so I figured I'd respond to an earlyer post to get it back on track.

I meant, if we can manipulate all the augs by just throwing credits at it, no reason to have different augs drop at all. Just change it to 1 of each aug type and call it a day. In essence i think this change is a bit broken... since all you would need to do is farm Sups, no reason to play the game, just powerlevel and camp dg's for the rest of your days.

True. Cost would be the only difference. Given credits are no limiting factor, you're right. But I can't be bothered to run any numbers on how specific situations would effect the economy and all that. If the cost is big enough, if such and such augs sell for more than, bah, can't be bothered.

Personally, I'm all for being able to manufacture anything. Game needs something to pour some energy into the gameplay. We need something that require huge amounts of resources. We need war machines.

Integrate this feature into Ring World structures. Sudden reason to build them. Of course they could be captured, repaired for a cost, and used. ( I honestly don't think that's likely, the whole capturing a ringworld part)

Post Re: Aug Decompressers
I would say this is entirely unnecessary. Already there are like 10x as many minor augs dropping for every basic, etc.
