Post [Misc] The Star Sonata Newsletter
Basically this would solve a few problems in the SS community:
- Dev/Player communication on future content/direction of the game
- Platform for voicing well-developed ideas without immature flames
- New perspectives on gameplay and adapting to C2

My suggestion for a newsletter would contain a selection of SS-related forum content, with some player-contributed articles, trade listings, political updates, and dev feature.

Keeping it simple, here is the proposed layout:

Title/Intro/Contents
Self-explanatory

DevTalk Column
Interview with a dev (rotating around all the devs)

PatchDay
Explains the patch notes/what actually went in game etc.

Player written articles
Opinion columns on anything in-game related.

Suggestion Selection
Top suggestions of the week

Team Politics
Update on new teams/wars/alliances/etc

Trade Postings
Latest posts in Trade

Nothing too massive, just a bit of interesting reading every week and an excuse to squeeze information out of the developers. Would need a bunch of people to contribute, and then we flick it off to the email list every week. Thoughts?

I'm assuming this would be player-run with dev-input (unless they liked it) and it would be sent via email.

Good to hear. I hope it continues longer than player-dev meetings did. They were a good concept but flawed in that they took up too much dev time.

no, we move on to another plane

MARTIN MARTIN MARTIN

if SS wants to survive it needs a drastic change, the admins need to play skyrim, take notice of how the game is paced, and rework SS to give similar freedom

it doesnt matter if the AI are significantly weaker than players. as long as the player fights are balanced the multiplayer aspect of the game will keep them playing, and the current grind needed to reach the endgame is a huge barrier to new players, drastic times call for drastic measures but to act without knowing your options is stupid

JEFF, GO PLAY SKYRIM.

SS has an advantage over skyrim anyway, killing another player in SS for the first time (in a fair fight) is a hell of alot more of a rush than killing a dragon or any kind of AI
