Re: Ares Black Stallions / rework treatment of engine weight
I'm not greatly familiarized with the Speed Demon world; would 18300 thrust and 4740 turning be acceptable, at cost of increased visibility (90).
That would be the easiest change without making the engine out of line from the structure that Olympus gear uses.

Re: Ares Black Stallions / rework treatment of engine weight
goett and Spatzz, please refer to the math I posted on the first page if you think the suggested stats are broken. Given 1.082mil weight of the engine, the suggestion works out very nearly to the same handling a SD would get using an unmodded Mzungu Flying Contrast. That's assuming a pre-engine weight of 2.5mil (rather high for SD), and the handling only gets worse as the pre-engine weight goes down.
I think my reputation upholds that I am not bending any figures whatsoever when I make this claim.

Re: Ares Black Stallions / rework treatment of engine weight
I really have no need for anything more than 2,500 turning myself (my current engine is 2530 and I nerf it by about 50% with /maxturn) ...SD gets a turning bonus.. but 1.5 - 2x more thrust? Yes please.

Re: Ares Black Stallions / rework treatment of engine weight
aye, but that much thrust doesn't solely affect handling, it might accelerate slowly but imagine trying to tractor something with that much thrust. sd's get an added agility bonus through class, and in that instance weight doesn't come into play.
you have the handling right enk but that much thrust is a boat load of thrust outside of just plain ship handling.

Conceded, but I don't think anyone's going to have trouble tractoring a SD, no matter what engine they use. All the same, let me suggest a different balance of thrust and weight that would be in line with what Blue Dwarf put. 14000 Thrust and 320,000 weight would give the same handling for a 2mil pre-engine weight as the 18300 / 1,082,000 suggestion. Everyone OK with that? Could also do 15400 thrust and 550,000 weight. Or 14500 and 400,000 weight. Lots of options. And as I said, turning is almost irrelevant.

Re: Ares Black Stallions / rework treatment of engine weight
I just want a 10:1 thrust/turn ratio engine to compensate for my incredibly heavy HF panther.

Anyway, Speed Demon can always use more thrust but that's not specifically what this thread is about. I'm hoping that the balance sheets don't throw a fit if the numbers I suggested just above are put in, since they do give the same handling as the ones Blue Dwarf came up with.

Re: Ares Black Stallions / rework treatment of engine weight
Enk. FINE!.. How about instead of increasing Thrust how about a -weight modifier. But really admins.. give me a 15k thrust engine with 1.5k turning..
