spaceglob wrote: I think what we really need are some changes to the current classes. *cough cough*FC*cough*Gunner*cough cough* Well, yes, and no. Yes, there should be more ways to play a class. No, the classes themselves need no change, after Gunner gets its beef and Gunships. Personally, each "class", or profession, or whatever you want it to be called should have a broad spectrum of ability and roles while still retaining its unique feel. Every class should have its own ways to help its allies when in a group, yet able to remain very viable on its own without backup. Classes work...better, in the hands of a fantasy game due to the RPS differences that make up magic, hand-to-hand, and projectile. Yet, also the ability to combine them into new and exciting transformations. Sci Fy games are better without classes, using the player's creativity to combine factional differences with powerful turrets and naval content. Tbh, SS's current classes should be remade, again. Into a series of classes that are not as restricted by ship hull, yet make each player feel more immersed. And then, the concept that they can play any class alone, and reap sole benefit from them, but still know they can play in a group and be very useful, no matter which class they chose for nearly every situation from pvp to pvai to pvb.

Wow. I agree with everything you said. What if the classes were just skills such as agility range, stealth, damage, mfing, speediness, firing speed, shm/engi stuff and you could have, say, up to four of them. An sd would be pretty much speed, agility, damage, and firing speed. Tho what I posted above would need some revision.

Re: New Classes Brainstorm
Pretty good suggestion. But there will be trouble to get all these classes. Considering Lyceum is already full.

Re: New Classes Brainstorm
Or we can just ask for these ideas to be incorporated into the current classes, like how Seers got a few Nanites.
Organic ships should not be tied to any class, and should be modular. Which while it sounds very EVE-ish, it actually comes from RL Space Agencies. Ie: Mir and ISS.

Organically are all in the air at the moment.
Essentially, Cybernetics Class is like what I'd love Gunner to be like, except this uses HF's instead of Capships.

I'd like organic ships to be more diverse than normal ships (seriously now... machines VS life, one randomly mutates) or at least highly customizable. So we should probably have two~ classes dedicated to them, because certain classes (cough sniper/zerker) will inevitably be better suited than others... at least new classes could make things interesting (even if they aren't actually better than just going sniper).

Re: New Classes Brainstorm
Which is why my suggestion gives tons of bonuses to Organic ships. Sniper/Zerk simply don't have the bonuses to make use of Organic type I believe.
Also, this topic is about 8 months old. Go me.
