Repost from Bugs thread, where enkelin was complaining about how crappy AWC looks with the ares texture. So I made him this custom texture and then no1 ever responded there, since it was really more appropriate for this forum.


It looks good on AWC and AWC+ so I simply set up a custom content tree so SS loads this instead of the default Ares.png, rather than changing ships.xml to use this on AWC+ exclusively.

Really though the AWC needs red panels for the sides of its nose, but thats beyond my meager skill with gimp.

I can't tell the difference. What did you change?

the front flaps arnt just pitch black they have the white trail on them.

This actually makes a huge (positive) difference in game, since otherwise the front flaps (or spines on the AWC+) blend into most backgrounds completely.

Definitely not in yet, and I'm sure I've gotten like 4 patches since this post.
