With the light sources in front of the viewer you are BLINDING everyone and making it very hard to see anything in the gals.

Move the light sources behind the viewer to fix the problem.

I'm gonna guess you're complaining about red giant suns, which on med+ graphics settings have a ring around them of radius ~800 which basically blinds you, washes everything in red so you cant distinguish between your slaves, your enemies, and debris. Or just empty space. it all loos the same.
Ill get a screenie in a bit to show what im talking about...

Can you spot the 5 slaves in the above screen shot?

No Kyp the complaint is in general. The light source needs to be behind the viewer.

ah... but that doesn't make any sense if stars (the source of light) are in the same plane as everything else. What graphics settings are you playing on?

LOL graphic settings have nothing to do with it.

Its a simple matter of 3D lighting. You always want the light source somewhere behind the camera. Your ship should be considered the camers for this discussion.

Its why the devs can't get the lighting right. They put the light source in front of the cameras and poof everyone goes blind and all objects are in shadows.

In C1 it didn't make a rats ass because the suns weren't providing the light, they were just another object.

In C2 the so called stars are the light source and the effect is totally F'ed up.

Most 3d MMOs aren't set in space. Which means their light source is behind the camera because their light source is artificial lighting or the sun overhead.

In a 3d space MMO the light can come from any direction. It isn't logical for light to come from behind the camera exclusively.

I'm just wondering if you're complaining that the light is insufficient, and attribute that to the relative positions of objects and lightsources and your camera (low graphics only problem, really); or if you think that the way light reflects on objects is funky and distracting and you want it to be uniform and from directly "above", like from the sun at high noon @ the equator on the equinox (which is a bit silly).

Either way, lighting sucks right now.

Its also not logical that the light sources be in the same plane as all of the objects being lit by it. C2 is a lighting mess.

C2 lighting is mostly fine if you're not on low graphics.
