Post subject:  Prizes for beta?

We haven't finalized what exactly will be the contests and prizes for beta yet. The major contests could consist of first person to get to certain levels, first person to kill certain enemies, first person to get certain skills, or first person to become emperor. I would like to also have one generic achievement like anyone who manages to do X gets rewarded with Y. Though it would have to be something we could easily automate.

What would you guys like to see in terms of contests and prizes for beta?

Ship Glow items with different colored glows that get applied to your ship when they get equipped. These could be for everyone to complete some simple task; say, a silver one for killing any uber, a gold one for killing a tech 20 uber, and a black one for killing a tech 21 uber.

Accomplishment of first person to explore all the galaxies! Person to do the most different DG's, to find the most unique items! Best character of each class!(Average of shield bank, energy bank, elec regen, shield regen, damage, rate of fire, range...the works. Combat stats only, could be a bit difficult to do properly, now that i think about it.)

Also, awards for killing ubers at the lowest levels, for having the most expensive+lowest tech setup(one for each tech level, obviously). (To encourage people to find all the gear and use it at each tech level.)

Things to encourage people to fully explore every aspect of the game, essentially.

As for awards, something graphical is always cool, and it doesn't unbalance the game. Failing that, the ability to mod one of your items is always super cool. Failing that, a level of IT would be awesome but broken. Failing that, fix one part of the Gunner problem for everything someone completes, that makes everyone happy(well, mostly the people that care about gunnery, but meh.)

First to reach 1 k and first to kill 3k plus ai, the prize fo the level contest wpuld be a phrase under our name that says (I'm a master beta) ;D and the 2nd prize for the kills would b a skull and cross bones placed on the players ship wherever he or she chooses

I don't see much point in this, it'll mostly be dominated by the top teams/existing players as opposed to benefiting newer players.

- First to reach 100 - Player modified Goldenboy Bar+
- First to reach 250 - Player modified Monochrome Hue+
- First to reach 500 - Player modified Forgone
- First to reach 1000 - Player modified Mini Cyclops
- First to reach 2000 - Player modified Cyclops
- Anyone who reaches 1000 - Extremely Super Phunka (basically a multicoloured glowing super phunka)
- First squad to kill Emp - Mini Mastadonte for each member of the squad(basically a scrumpling with mastadonte graphic)
- First player to take Emp - Battle Sphere with the same graphics as Golden Midas
- First player to gain Piloting 20 - Extremely Super Phunka+
- First player to gain Weaponry 20 - Player modified Mini Bana queen ship
- First player to gain Shielding 20 - Player modified Annaconda Ship
- First player to gain Electrical Engineering 20 - Oversized App Ward
- First player to gain Equipment 20 - Player modified Copperling
- First player to kill a Ragnarock - Mini Rag+
- First player to kill a Slumberchrome - Player modified Slumberchrome
- First player to kill a Big Green - Player modified Big Green
- First player to kill...Rattie Moe!? - Rattie Moe Kitten

A few ideas, lots of the ship prizes say "player modified" this is basically a nerf or beef to them so they can be suitable for player use..for example a player modified forgone wouldn't have the 8 aug slots like the AI one has.

One of a kind unique ships from C1 with very underpowered stats is a collectors item. Would be awesome, but maybe not appealing to all players.

Imperial Tweaking for winning a contest would be nice, but limit it to 5 or so tops for each character so we don't end up with a player getting 20-30 levels of it. This may appeal to some players, but maybe not to all.

So, if it was up to me, the winners should get the option to choose between an everlasting character upgrade, or an unique one of a kind ship with special graphics.

Meh im not too fussed, im mostly going to be enjoying the nexus because ive never had a reason to do it in the past.

Er... Honestly since entry into beta is staggered for the first day, this automatically gives an advantage to the people who signed up first. Prizes for reaching lower levels doesn't seem fair. At the higher levels it seems more appropriate. The only way this would seem fair to me is if prizes were awarded to the first person in your release group to achieve a certain level, but that would be hard to automate I would assume.

Perhaps we could make the prizes less fantastic, and spread the wealth, while encouraging people to actually keep an eye out for bugs and report them properly?

Report 1 bug, get a prize
Report 5 bugs, get a prize, etc!

With the new client, lord knows we can find em! (lol)

I'd rather see a higher focus on milestone achievements anyone can reach, with appropriate prizes.
