Currently we're going over a lot of content to prepare it for C2. 'Eventually' we'll likely have most galaxies with a brand new look compared to before. Such as Absolution, Lavanite, Red Photon over in:

I'd like a bit of community feedback to drive some ideas on what you would like to see in galaxies, if you want to be specific with a certain galaxy that's fine same goes for general additions to a variety.

I'm also looking for ideas on new effects and space objects to work on as a side project once I have time.

One side thing I did last night was to work on a basic comet effect that I might toss into a few galaxies or eventually if it's made into a object sub set it might be put into the generator but who knows.

So in summary.

If you have ideas for existing galaxies, toss them in here. If you know of effects that would be worth replicating, both in real life as well as fictional please tell me about them and give a example.

Comets yes! I believe it was Copernicus who first suggested them, but it would be so cool to have the chance of a comet showing up at some random point in the uni, perhaps containing rare resources. I don't know if the server can handle this sort of thing, but they ought to start from really far out (1 million distance?) in the gals to truly give the feeling on scale. Your model looks really cool too!

Would solar flares be entirely out of the question? I think it would be a cool random effect to see sometimes. Perhaps it could even do slight damage/muck with radar a tad, but I assume your work is more about the visual than the technical side.

I think some kind of dark/black nebula in Shadow and/or The Dark would be excellent as well, not necessarily affecting radar, but just for the atmosphere of the galaxy in general, blacker than space, as it were.

Debry fields (3 dimensionally spread out above and below the ship plane) and lightning storms in the background would be pretty cool.

Gravity and galaxies with black holes.

Possibly make the black holes warp you randomly to another black hole somewhere in the universe?

make asteroids crash into each other
and make AI fight each other more often

I see zebus and volcoms shoot each other all the time dun see why higher level ai should be any different

when somethings shot, make temporary debri and damage spots
wouldnt be hard to code in.

Just going to go ahead and say one of the cooler parts of the game is Enigmatic Sector, I love seeing the huged spawned AI flotillas smash into each other so big support on AI fighting AI more often.

I've always thought gravity would play in really well with SS. More dense masses having heavier gravity etc. would allow for some truly dynamic gameplay.

i totally want something as gravity in, but in the mean time.. Lots of ships are already bigger than the planets/suns :|

That doesnt mean they have more mass

planet with rings like saturn, so when you go over the planet and it bumps you over it, the particles wake round ur ship and return to the ring.
