Post subject:  Incoming change on aug drops

Next patch, there's going to be a slight change in the aug drop rates. The base drop of all equipped augs is being reduced by about 1.5%, but will be increased by 1% for Piracy level 20 (0.05% per level) and another 3% if the ship is killed with a surgical weapon. So overall with maxed piracy, it's an increase of about 2.5% if you use a surgical weapon and a -0.5% decrease if you don't use a surgical weapon.

This is to give greater game play effects from surgical weapons and the piracy skill. We're going to track the percent of ships that are killed with surgical vs non-surgical and possibly adjust the numbers after some data is collected.

sounds awesome i think the decrease should be at least 3x that though as it will help the market

Um do slaves and Fighters on slaves get affected by Piracy?.....Becuase FC never kill ships them selfs lol.....I mean when i become FC i stop at 8.435 kills XD

my zerker has like 100k kills

Slaves inherit 1/2 of their owners skills.

So piracy 20 on owner, will be piracy 10 on slaves...sounds unfair

What about DM's? any decent T20 Surg drones coming out?

How about making a T20 Advanced OHL?

-What are the reason's for this change?
-Has much thought been put into this?
-Do you realise that the price of alot of augs will skyrocket? if not sell at all. -If augs become rarer, then they will be hoarded even more.
-Is it fair on newer players, who dont have a thatch full of augs?

It seems as usual, you are making a nerf, without thinking of the consequences.

I don't think it's a horrible idea but a few suggestions:


1. Make piracy skill fully affect slaves, drones, bases instead of only a %.

2. Give more weapon control, especially in client 2 for drones, slaves so we can choose surgical weapons if they're installed.

3. Add more surgical damage type drones.

I really don't view this as a nerf at all. First, the changes are pretty small, and second, if people use surg on even 1/5 of their kills, they are breaking even. Any more than that, and there will be more augs entering the market than currently. Also, people will tend to use surg on higher level enemies and not on lower level enemies, so that skews things in favor of higher quality augs that will be dropping.

I think giving full piracy to slaves, drones, and bases is a reasonable suggestion.

And what of classes that cannot, or will not, use surgical damage to kill high-leveled AI?

Engineers such as myself cannot use Liposuction Drones to take out UZ AI. So, it is a nerf for classes such as mine, as we will be using BFDs, Titans etc. to kill AI of that level.
Armada Ambushes' surgical laser is not a good source of surgical damage for my class.

So if i killed alby with slates and p20 i would have a greater chance of getting alby aug ? Same with DC and gonzales aug ?:P

This won't be an issue since FC slaves normally uses radiation weapon and you can simply finish off the spaceship using a surgical weapon :)
