I think lasers should be changed to constant damage type weapons with(generally) low tracking, and most beam weapons changed to different damage types.

That would be cool.

Tbh, imo all lasers should be Ethereal and Damage multiple targets at once either by jumps or hurt anything in a straight line.

Plus in reality Laser in space has unlimited range... that would be cool in SS :lol:

no they dont. the light spreads out as it travels.

Lasers are light. Light travels forever. I don't think their power does though; make them do full damage at the range posted in the stats, and then ever decreasing damage as the range goes farther as well as losing tracking ability past the posted range.

e.g. Medium laser with 250 range and 120dps (damage stat for lasers will be in damage per second).

after 250 range (or however much the range is boosted by skills/augs/tweaks), the laser loses its tracking ability (just fires forward) and starts doing less damage.

Edit: Rate of fire will be a modifier to the damage per second, but also increase elec usage, while damage will just be a modifier to the damage per second stat, just to be clear on those. e.g. +50% RoF = +50% damage AND +50% elec usage, but +50% damage is just +50% damage.

lolwut did you even bother to read ALL of my post? decreasing damage after the max range, at 20k range even for snipers i'd assume as little as like 1-2dps.

We have reflectivity in game already. Why not make laser damage be affected by that stat?
For example if target has less than 100% reflectivity that means laser damage is being amplified due to light absorption. If target has more than 100% reflectivity part of laser damage is being reflected creating short range splash effect.

Laser damage kicking the living crap out of snipers, seers, SD's, and KC, hmm. Yet not being able to scratch Fleet, Support, and Zerk?
